Christmas Celebration

We hope that you are all looking forward to our Christmas celebration tomorrow, Monday 16th December. Children should attend Nursery at normal times and we will walk them to church. Families should come to the United Reform Church for 1.45.
We are delighted that many of our families have indicated that they would like to be part of our celebration. We want this to be an informal occasion for the children to enjoy a relaxed and happy performance to their families and look forward to seeing you there.

Annan Academy Visit

After experimenting with full sized musical instruments recently in the Rainbow Room, where lots of little bands were formed, the music department at Annan Academy kindly invited small groups to visit their music room to learn more about a range of different instruments. As you can see, this was a great experience and we would like to thank Mr. Brand and his pupils very much for their patience and time on our visits. We know that some of the children have now put trumpets and drums on their Santa list so they may well be experts by the time they reach Annan Academy as pupils.

STEM Ambassadors

Miss Ash, a Science teacher at Annan Academy, recently brought Senior and Junior STEM Ambassadors to engage our children in a range of fun activities. This opportunity allowed our pupils to access different people from the community and to see for themselves that both boys and girls can become scientists. Some of the secondary pupils had been in our Nursery themselves as pupils so it was helpful to build an understanding that this can be an aspiration for them all in the future.
As you can see, everyone loved participating in all the experiments so we would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Miss Ash and all her STEM Ambassadors for their time and patience. We are looking forward to your return visit soon when you will be visiting the Rainbow Room where you will no doubt inspire those children to develop their learning in this area.

Music Music Everywhere

Musical instruments have been very popular in the Rainbow Room recently as the children have learned about various types of instruments and the sounds they make. Little bands have sprung up everywhere inspired by using real instruments and watching bands and orchestras on the Promethean board.
We hope that you enjoy the photos of our budding bands people confidently trying a new experience.

Health Information And Taster Session

Yvonne and Louise from the Health Improvement Team visited us last week for an informal information and taster session. It was lovely to have so many adults from our families joining the children and staff to learn about healthy snack options and it was great to see children and adults alike trying some foods for the first time. Some of the recipes sound delicious and we plan to try them out in Nursery with the children. The healthy banana ice-cream was particularly popular and we think that a few homes in Annan may be trying that idea out soon.
Thank you to the adults for taking the time to give us some feedback on this visit as it helps us evaluate and plan for the future. Comments included:
“Very informative and colourful”
“Very informative session and lovely to spend time with my child encouraging her to eat healthy. We all love the banana ice-cream and the Sharon fruit. Thank you”.
“Very helpful information, well presented”.

Here are some of the children and adults enjoying the session in the Rainbow Room.

Hammers, Nails And Wood

Hammers, nails and wood provide great opportunities for the children to develop their skills in Technologies and they show themselves to be great learners whether indoors or out. You can see from these photos that their focus and attention is impressive as they work safely and confidently with the tools. The children are rightly proud that they are carrying out what they consider an adult task and are developing confidence to consider this as a possible area of work in the future.
