Sports Day Fun

We would like to share this lovely video of Tilly and her big sister Olivia enjoying their Sports Day. Thank you so much for sharing your video. It looks like great fun and we hope that you had a super day.

Twins Win

We have received this lovely photo from Lily and James’ family of them enjoying a fun Sports Day. They sent us a message too,
“Lily and James doing the egg and spoon race both won as they are twins after all. Both really enjoying sports outside including learning to skip as well.”
Super photo Lily and James! “Egg and spoon” can be tricky and skipping is definitely a great skill to learn. Thank you very much for sending us your photo. We are glad that you had fun.

Well Done!

Mr. Palmer has been looking at your photos and videos and has left you a message:

“Just want to say well done boys and girls to all of you who took part in some sports day fun this week. I’ve enjoyed watching all the videos and pictures from yourselves and all the boys and girls in the school as well. The best part for me is seeing so many of you taking part with big smiles on your faces and having fun. Well done. Mr Palmer”

Thank you Mr. Palmer. We are very proud of them all.

Sports Day Fun

We are delighted to have received another fun Sports day video. We just love hearing you giggling so much Skye, you’ve obviously had a great time. It’s great to see your big brother too who lots of us remember from when he was in our Nursery although he has definitely grown a lot since then.

Thank you so much for sharing your video. It will make everyone feel very happy. Please click on the link below to see Skye’s Sports Day fun.

Happy Sports Day

We are delighted to share another fantastic Sports Day At Home video, this time of Kyla and her big brother. Their family say that they love sports and had great fun which certainly shows in their video. Very well done both of you and thank you for sharing such a super video. It looks like you had lots of fun!

Sports Week

One of the main events during the summer term is our school and Nursery sports days. Whilst we aren’t able to come together to enjoy lots of fun activities, we will, along with the school, be holding a week long event instead.

We would like to share this video of us all trying out a little fun activity at home to give the children ideas of challenges to try themselves and we suggest that they ‘have a go’ at a few of them during week beginning Monday 1st June. These are just suggestions that, of course, can be adapted and the children may also want to invent their own activities which we would love to see.

You could organise your ‘sports day’ for any day between Monday and Thursday of week beginning June 1st, depending on weather. Why not share it with other family members during a video call to make it an event for the children?

We would love you to send photos or videos of your event so that we can share them on our blog. Please send them to the school address below by the end of Thursday June 4th so that they can forwarded to us to share.

We look forward to hearing from you and hope that you have lots of fun.

Stretchy Song Band

A recent addition to our rhyme and singing time has been this beautiful stretchy song band which was kindly created and donated by Mrs. Jardine.
The band is made from an interesting mix of colours and textures of fabric, providing a sensory experience and encouraging the children to focus as the band is moved round while they sing. It is motivating and fun, encouraging group participation and great social interaction as the children talk about which section of the band has stopped at them, how it feels, looks and what they like about it.
Thank you so much to Mrs. Irving’s Mum for spending so much time sourcing the materials and putting them together. This must have been quite a challenge but your hard work is greatly appreciated by everyone.

Kim’s Game

Do any of you remember playing Kim’s Game when you were younger? This is a simple, fun game to enjoy with your child at home and will develop his/her memory skills, concentration and ability to take turns.

Encourage your child to choose a small selection of items (4 – 6 initially) from around the house and sit them on a tray or a table.

Cover the objects with a towel then see how many items that your child can name.

Once they are confident to do this, ask your child to close their eyes, take one item away from under the towel and see if he/she can say what is missing.

Take turns as a family to take an object away.

If your child needs a further challenge, you could take two objects away or add to the number of items on the tray.

We hope that you have lots of fun playing together.

Learning About Our Community

As part of learning about our local community, some of the children from the Rainbow Room took their cameras to the High Street last term to record photos of a range of different buildings.
Discussing their personal experiences and the purpose of each building, they were then able to share their findings with their peers. Of course, while on the High Street they took the opportunity to look after our planter too.
We think that the children’s photos are super and that they showed great skills in using the cameras.
I wonder if any of the children can recognise the buildings from their photos and do they know what these buildings are used for?
