Word Of The Week

As we look forward to our whole school Health Week, with lots of fun activities planned for everyone, our “Word of the Week” this week will be ‘healthy. Hopefully we will have a better understanding of what it means to be healthy at the end of this week as well as feeling happy and healthy after taking part in the various activities.

Thumbs Up

It seems that our potential Primary 1 children have been enjoying their time in Miss Campbell’s class as they gave her a ‘thumbs up’ at the end of a recent visit. Two of their families also left lovely comments.

“Brooke has loved her first couple of visits to primary 1, she hasnt stopped talking about it and is so looking forward to starting big school. It’s nice to see how confident she is in the classroom setting”

It’s fab to see all the children enjoyed visiting the P1 classroom. Joshua is very excited & looking forward to primary after the summer 😊.”

We have more visits planned to Primary 1 and the Primary 6 buddies will be taking the children back to the playground so lots to look forward to.

Visits To Primary 1

The children who will soon be making the transition to Primary 1 at Hecklegirth have had two recent visits to the P1 classroom to get a taste of school life. As you can see, they settled in well and were confident to try out a range of activities. Thank you to Miss Campbell for making the Nursery children feel so welcome. They are looking forward to their next visit.

Playground Visits

As those moving to Primary 1 at Hecklegirth in August have now met their individual Primary 6 buddies, we have put a timetable in place for the children to visit the school playground. The buddies will go with our children on these visits to encourage and support them initially in the empty playground and then when the rest of the school is out.
We have already had the first of our visits and Primary 6 showed impressive skills and attitude to ensure that our children had great fun and felt confident in the wider school environment. Thank you Primary 6 for doing such a super job. All the children came back to Nursery from the playground happy and confident. They are looking forward to another visit this week.

Photos

Patrick’s family has been looking through our photos and liked the ones of the children visiting the police station.

“Aww Patrick you were a bit shy but weren’t you brave getting in the big car! Well done xxx” and “Lovely 😍 seeing you with all your friends Patrick xxx

The children did enjoy that visit and it was great that they were all able to try out the siren and blue light on the van.

Welcome To Nursery

Four new children have joined us this week and they are beginning to settle into Nursery life, learning about the routines and beginning to grow in confidence to try out a range of activities. We hope that our new families enjoy using our blog to get a feel for life in Hecklegirth Nursery and thought we would share some photos of the children enjoying their first couple of days. We hope that you all have lots of happy times with us.

Balancing

As the term draws to a close, the morning children have been enjoying their last few lessons with Mrs. Foster, our P.E. teacher. They have had some fun learning experiences and have grown in confidence as the term has progressed.
Here is one group learning how to move in different ways along a bench, showing good balancing skills and body awareness as they move forwards and backwards using different parts of their bodies. Thank you Mrs. Foster for this term’s activities. The afternoon children are looking forward to spending time with you next term.
