Graduation Celebration

We were all so proud of the children at our graduation ceremony on Wednesday as they sang and danced to celebrate their year in Nursery. They showed great confidence to perform to their families and then to walk on stage on their own to shake hands and receive their certificates.
Thank you to Mr. Palmer for taking time to present the children with their awards and for being so patient to pose with each child so that a precious family photo could be taken. Thank you also to all the family and friends who attended our little ceremony and for your support throughout the year.
Here is a gallery of some of the morning children. I will put photos of the afternoon children on as soon as possible.

Graduation Reminder

We are looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow (Wednesday) in the school hall for our little graduation to celebrate the end of our year. Please bring your child to Nursery at normal times and use the front door of the school when you return to the hall for our celebration at 10.45 or 1.30. We ask that you please park in the John Bell car park and not the staff car park. We hope that the boys and girls bring their good singing voices and we look forward to seeing you all. Here is a little selection of the children practising their songs today.

School Lunch

Last week Hecklegirth families joined their children to sample a school lunch in preparation for the move to Primary 1 in August. Macaroni cheese or delicious rolls were on offer and tasty looking ice cream and yoghurts for dessert seemed to go down well with most children. Hopefully everyone is now looking forward to their school lunches when they come to Primary 1 in August.

Farmer’s Den

We would like to say a huge thank you to the Hecklegirth Fundraisers for paying for all the children to have a session at Farmer’s Den to celebrate our year in Nursery. Not only did the children run, jump and climb with boundless energy but they took some time out to draw or play with the bricks when they needed a little rest. Even Stan the Star made an appearance to join in the fun of what was a busy and very happy day.
Thank you to all those who have contributed to the fundraising activities this year as you helped the Nursery children have a super session at Farmer’s Den. These photos show the morning children having fun. Photos of the afternoon session will be posted soon.

Buddies

Enid’s family has been looking of the photos of the Primary 6 buddies meeting our children’s families:

“Really lovely to have the opportunity to meet Enids buddy Katy, Enid is very fond of her. I think it’s a great idea to buddy the nursery children up with a P6 pupil, I think it will really help Enid settle into school.”

Thank you for your kind comment. We are certainly very impressed with our buddies and think that they will make a big difference to the children as they move to Primary 1.

Tennis Time

We seem to have had so many exciting events to share from our busy Health Week and here you can see the morning children enjoying a session with Mike, the tennis coach, who provided lots of fun activities to help the children learn control of a tennis ball. Mike told us that there are classes for Nursery age children at our local tennis courts so we hope that these children have enjoyed their experience and may want to take part in these classes in the future. They certainly showed great enthusiasm for all the activities.

Meet The Parents

Our Primary 6 buddies very kindly took the time to write letters to their Nursery child’s family so that they know a little about them and they have recently introduced themselves to their parents/carers. We hope that this has eased a few of the worries you may have had about your child moving to Primary 1 and that you enjoy sharing the letters with your children. We thought that we would share a few photos of everyone meeting each other.
Thank you Primary 6 children for doing a super job. You certainly are responsible citizens and effective contributors!

Dancing With An Elephant

Our local dance school, run by Maureen Smith, kindly provided a great dance experience for some of the Nursery children during our recent Health Week. Not only did we have several very patient dancers to support the children in learning some dance moves but Nellie the Elephant even paid a visit and joined in with our dancing. This was a super experience for the children who came away excited and happy so we would like to thank Maureen and all the dancers for giving up their time to work with us. We all appreciate your support very much.
