We had a visit from the council’s community safety team towards the end of term to learn all about littering and keeping the community tidy. One of the highlights of the event was the visit by the mechanical road sweeper. The children loved having the opportunity to operate some of the buttons and sit up in the driving seat. Thank you to the community safety team for taking so much time with the children to answer all their questions and for making sure that everyone who wanted to was able to sit up in the cab. Let’s hope that the children remember all that you told them about keeping our community clean and tidy.

Our Local Community
As part of learning about our local community and the people who work in it, this group of children from the Raindrop Room investigated what shops were on Annan High Street and what they could buy there. Of course, our local community includes the park near our Nursery so they all enjoyed a little time there on their journey back and, as you can see, everyone seemed to have a great time.
Steam Train
Leo’s family has been looking at our photos of the recent visit of the steam train to Annan:
“Leo loved seeing the steam train he was so excited to tell us all about it.”
Well done Leo for sharing your news at home with your family. It certainly was exciting.
Steam Train
Many of the children in Nursery are interested in trains and our train set is one of our most popular resources so when we heard that a steam train would be passing through Annan at the end of last week we decided to try to catch a glimpse of it. Some of the children went a walk to Annan station and some watched for the train from the playground and we were not disappointed when it sped past looking very impressive.

Thank You
We would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs. Brenda Fleming of JDP Limited who kindly arranged for us to take delivery of a huge pipe to enhance our outdoor play area. The children were very excited to watch its delivery earlier this week and have begun to explore different ways to use it. We look forward to lots of fun times ahead enjoying our new resource so thank you very much to Mrs. Fleming and her company.
More Tractor Fun
As promised, here are photos of some of the children from the Rainbow Room enjoying the tractor visit kindly arranged by Fern’s Daddy. What happy smiles everyone had that day!
Tractor Visit
We had a special treat on the last day of term when Fern’s Daddy, as part of his job, was able to arrange a visit from a huge tractor. Everyone was very excited to sit up high and experience what it must feel like for a farmer to be in charge of a tractor. We were amazed at the size of it especially when we compared ourselves to the height of the wheels. Some were also interested to look at the back of the tractor and talk about what might be attached to the huge hooks.
Thank you so much to Fern’s Daddy for arranging this visit which was a great experience for the children. Thank you also to her Mummy who so kindly helped the children up into the cab. Here are the children from the Raindrop Room having a great time with the tractor. We will post photos of those in the Rainbow Room soon.
Friendship Group
A small group of our children visited the Old Parish Church hall on Monday to entertain the ladies and gentlemen of the friendship club. The children showed great maturity to introduce themselves on stage and to perform a few favourite songs to an enthusiastic audience. One lady was celebrating a very special birthday and was delighted to receive a card and hear “Happy Birthday” sung by our little group.
Thank you to everyone at the friendship club for their warm welcome, their kind applause and, of course, for the delicious snack which was a lovely treat. This was a great opportunity for the children to perform to an audience and we appreciate your kind invitation.

The Big Top
Leo’s family liked the photos of our visit to the circus tent:
“Leo was very excited to tell his family all about going to see the big top tent and was lucky enough to see the show on Sunday which he loved.”
You are a lucky boy Leo. You will have to tell us all about your visit to the circus.
The Big Top
The children had the opportunity on Friday morning to visit the big top as the circus was visiting town right beside our Nursery. It was exciting for everyone to see inside the tent and appreciate the size of it although we were not lucky enough to see a show. I wonder if any of you went back over the weekend to the circus?
