Beautiful Mermaids

Tilly’s Mum has been looking at our photos from World Book Day last week:

“Aww, two beautiful mermaids! Tilly loved getting to dress up and come to nursery as Ariel for World Book Day!”

There seemed to be so many different outfits that day. The children looked brilliant and we enjoyed all the stories they brought to show us. Thank you to everyone who participated.

Super Buddies

We have had two lovely comments on our recent post about the Primary 6 buddies visiting Nursery. One is from a P6 pupil who said,
“I like playing with the tv and playing outside with the nursery children.”

Our other comment was from the parent of a buddy:
“Lovely picture. Scott really enjoys his visits to the nursery. Thank you.”

Thank you both for taking the time to look at our blog. It was great to hear from you. The Nursery children certainly love the visits from Primary 6 who are doing a super job.

Photos

It’s great to see that some families have been enjoying our recent photos. Oscar’s family has been looking at our tasting sessions:

“Definitely Oscar’s favourite kind of test especially if theres strawberries and oranges on offer!”

Strawberries in particular were certainly very popular with lots of the children and they enjoyed comparing the different foods on offer.

Alex and Letti also featured in photos of the children performing in the puppet theatre which their families enjoyed.

Alex’s family said, “Aww it looks like Alex is having a great time.”

Letti’s family loved her photo too:

“What a great photo of these cheeky pair! Having fun and probably lots of nonsense.”

The children did have great fun taking turns at performing and being part of the audience. It is lovely to see their confidence growing in this way.

Which Animal Are You?

Jasmin’s family has told us about her discussions at home about Chinese Year.

“Jasmin really enjoyed asking all her family what animal represented their birth year according to Chinese tradition, google to the rescue!”

Well done Jasmin for talking about your learning at home. It’s certainly handy to have Google for tricky questions at times.

Beat The Bugs

Our Dumfries and Galloway RAiSE teacher has looked at our photos of the children learning about handwashing.

“This is always an interesting activity. Really drives home the importance of handwashing to beat the bugs.

Who did you borrow the UV light box from? I’m sure other schools might like to try this too.

Regards
Carol Moyes
RAiSE Teacher”

Adults and children alike are always surprised at the number of germs that appear on their hands. The UV light box was from the Health Protection team at Public Health and is certainly an interesting piece of equipment for the children to use.

Great New Building

Emilia’s family has left us a lovely comment about our new Raindrop Room:

“What a great new building at Hecklegirth Nursery, very welcoming. there’s lots of space for all sorts of activities; great little puppet theatre. The staff have done wonders with it in the short time it has been open. A lot of good ideas and hard work involved to achieve it. Looking forward to seeing the garden when your little helpers get into it. Well done everybody”

Thank you so much for your kind comments. They are greatly appreciated. We continue to develop our Nursery and look forward to it evolving as time passes.
