Confident Individuals

It seemed too good to be true that the sun decided to shine on our Fun Activity Day but we were very grateful for the gorgeous weather. Thank you so much to all family and friends who took the time to cheer on the children as well as to the buddies of Primary 6 who were great helpers and supporters of the children both morning and afternoon.
We are sure that, like us, you felt very proud of them all as they confidently showed off their skills and great teamwork. We managed to capture photos of some of the children with those well deserved medals and an ice lolly finished off our day nicely. We hope that you enjoyed the day as much as we did. Well done boys and girls – you really showed yourselves to be ‘confident individuals’. Here are the morning children after all their hard work.

School Sports

Joshua and Nancy’s family enjoyed the photos of the children practising for their Fun Activity Day.

The children did seem to enjoy all the practising on the school field and it was lovely for those moving to Primary 1 at Hecklegirth to be able to join in the school sports for a race and to cheer on their family and friends in their races. Here are a few photos of them at the school sports. Well done all of you for showing great confidence in a new situation.

Word Of The Week

This week’s “Word of the Week” is cocoon as we keep an eye on our own little cocoons. I wonder how many of the children can use this word?

Proud Mummy And Daddy

Joshua’s family is delighted with his recent certificate:

“My wee dude was so pleased when he got his certificate. He was smiling all weekend & telling everybody. He was a very proud boy & Mummy & Daddy were proud too. Well done Joshi 😍☺ “

It’s lovely to hear how proud Joshua and his family are feeling. Very well done Joshua! Keep up the great work.

Practice Makes Perfection

Just like the morning children, those in the afternoon all enjoyed practising our activities for their Fun Activity Day. We hope that you enjoyed watching our confident little children and will share photos of them with their medals soon.

Data Protection Has Changed

General Data Protection Regulation comes into force today (25th May 2018). Hecklegirth Primary will comply with the six data protection principles to ensure the protection of your personal data.

Keeping Fit

As promised, here is a selection of photos of the children practising for their Fun Activity Day. Apologies that we could not manage to post them earlier in the week. More photos will follow soon. In the meantime here are the morning children in action.

The Food Rainbow

We have had so many fun activities during Health Week to help us learn about the importance of looking after our bodies. As well as the physical activities, we had a lovely visitor who helped us think about healthy eating and what it looks like. It was impressive that lots of the children were aware of sugar in foods and that it is not good for their teeth but they were surprised, for example, to learn that tomato sauce has lots of sugar in it.
I wonder if any of the children remembered to talk to their families about the food rainbow? Why not ask them at home what it means?

Fun Activity Day

The children have been practising their running and jumping skills to prepare for our Fun Activity Day tomorrow (Thursday). They have grown in confidence, shown good teamwork and had great fun. We are looking forward to lots of families and friends cheering the children on as they show you what they can do. We hope to bring them on to the field around 9.30 and 2.00 when they will start moving round their activities.
We do have photos of the children practising their activities but unfortunately, for some reason, the system will not allow us to upload them today so we hope to show you them once the problem has been resolved. Fingers crossed that the sun decides to shine tomorrow.
