Fun Activity Event

The children have been practising their running and jumping skills to prepare for our Fun Activity event tomorrow (Thursday). They have grown in confidence, shown good teamwork and had great fun. We are looking forward to lots of families and friends cheering the children on as they show you what they can do. We hope to bring them on to the field around 9.30 when they will start moving round their activities.
It is quite tricky to get photos of the children practising their activities as they move so quickly but here is a taster of what they will be doing on our Fun Activity event. Fingers crossed that the sun continues to shine tomorrow.

Food Portraits

Our young artists in the Rainbow Room have been looking at the work of the artist Arcimboldo who was famous for creating imaginative portraits made of food amongst other things. The children have shown imagination and creativity to make their own portraits on slate in the style of Arcimboldo and developed their technology skills by taking photos of their work themselves. We loved their artwork and photography so much that we have made a display in the school for everyone to see. Great work children!

PEEP Group

Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, has left a message for everyone about her PEEP activities:

“If any nursery parents/carers are interested in coming to a PEEP group on a Monday afternoon or Thursday morning please let Nursery staff know”

These sessions are a great opportunity for you to enjoy a relaxing activity with your child and younger siblings are welcome to attend.

Stomping And Roaring

Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, has sent us a post about today’s PEEP activity.

“Today in our first PEEP session we stomped and roared like dinosaurs and painted dinosaur pictures with marshmallows and pom poms (and a little bit of glitter)”

That sounds like great fun and we love your artwork. Thank you to Eileen for organising PEEP for our families.

Experiments

Leah’s family has been looking at the photos of some of the children’s science experiments:

“Leah loved doing science experiments and told us all about it . We saw a book in Aldi with children’s science experiments and we are going to do some at home too . Thank you.”

Well done Leah for talking about your learning at home and it’s great to hear that you are carrying on with your experiments with your family. I hope that you have lots of fun.

Science Wizards

Our children have become very interested in doing experiments this year and one of their favourites was when they were science wizards, making a fizzy potion. They listened carefully to instructions as they measured vinegar and washing-up liquid in to a jar. As with all good potion mixing, they children had to give it a good stir and a few magic words before adding baking soda to produce an exciting fizzy fountain. As you can imagine, we had to try this out several times and used different quantities of ingredients each time, including some food colouring, to observe what happened. Science is such fun!

Puddle Fun

Regardless of weather, most of the children love outdoor play and those in the Rainbow Room particularly enjoy it when the big puddle appears in the outdoor area. Bikes, tyres, balls, scooters … everything is different when used in water and the children love experimenting in this type of environment. Adding bubbles to the puddle adds to the excitement and, as you can see, everyone just has great fun.
