Graduation Celebrations

We were all so proud of the children at our graduation ceremony today as they sang and danced to celebrate their year in Nursery. They showed great confidence to perform to their families and those walking on stage on their own to shake hands and receive their certificates looked so grown-up and ready for their move to Primary 1.
Thank you to Mr. Palmer for taking time to present the children with their certificates and for being so patient to pose with each child so that a precious family photo could be taken. Thank you also to all the family and friends who attended our little ceremony and for your wonderful support throughout the year. We hope that you have enjoyed the year as much as we have.

Riding Of The Marches Visit

Hecklegirth had some exciting visitors on Monday when the Riding of the Marches principals arrived to see everyone. Here are some of the children waiting with the rest of the school to see our special visitors. Three of our pupils also had a lovely surprise when they were presented with medals for the Riding of the Marches Nursery drawing competition where they had to design a flag depicting Riding of the Marches day. Well done all of you.

Graduation Reminder

We are looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow (Wednesday) in the school hall for our little graduation to celebrate the end of our year. Please bring your child to Nursery at normal times and use the front door of the school when you return to the hall for our celebration at 10.45. We ask that you please park in the John Bell car park and not the staff car park. We hope that the boys and girls bring their good singing voices and we look forward to seeing you all.

Dinner Hall Dining

Last week those about to move to Primary 1 at Hecklegirth in August had their lunch in the school dinner hall. Many of the children already stay for lunch in Nursery but it was good for them to experience the serving system and the environment where they will have their lunch as P1 pupils. The children, of course, took this in their stride and we hope that they will be confident in the dinner hall once they are come to school in August.

Tennis Time

We have had so many experiences to share from our busy Health Week and here you can see some of the children enjoying a session with Mike, the tennis coach, who provided lots of fun activities to help the children learn control of a tennis ball. They showed great enthusiasm for all the activities, listening well and showing great concentration. Who knows we may have a Wimbledon star of the future here?

Make Your Own Smoothie

Trying out the smoothie bike was another great fun event that some Nursery children took part in during our recent Health Week. The children chose from a selection of delicious fruits and juices which were put in the liquidiser on the back of a specially adapted bike. They then pedalled the bike to activate the liquidiser and produce their smoothie. What an exciting way to make a smoothie – hard work but great fun with a tasty end product.

Farmer’s Den Fun

We would like to say a huge thank you to the Hecklegirth Fundraisers for paying for all the children to have a session at Farmer’s Den to celebrate our year in Nursery. Not only did the children run, jump and climb with boundless energy but they took some time out to draw or play with the bricks when they needed a little rest on what was a busy and very happy visit.
Thank you to all those who have contributed to the fundraising activities this year as you helped the Nursery children have a super session at Farmer’s Den.
