Having been inspired by discussions about Vincent Van Gogh’s work and planting their own sunflower seeds, the children created their own sunflower artwork which produced a wonderful display. We hope that you enjoy their little gallery. I wonder if everyone’s sunflowers are growing in the summer sunshine?
Snack Creations
Lots of learning happens in the snack area in Nursery and here you can see the children developing their fine motor skills as they prepare fruit, showing good control to chop safely. They then decided how to set out their snack in a way that looked appealing, be that as a face or a pattern that they created. Finally, as well as enjoying the tasty food that they had prepared, the children took photos of their snack themselves so that they could share their work with others after it was eaten up. Great work all round boys and girls.
Colourful Caterpillars
When the children were caring for their caterpillars, they took the opportunity to create their own caterpillars in the art area and we love the colourful work that they produced. We would like to share a little gallery of their creations. Click then click again on photos to make them bigger.
Sunshine Stretching
The children love to play on the school field and we took advantage of the lovely weather towards the end of term to spend time there most days. Here you can see the children showing good listening skills as they followed instructions through various stretches to prepare for some running, jumping, skipping and galloping.
Hecklegirth Hospital
We had a very busy hospital in the Rainbow Room towards the end of term but there were lots of super doctors and nurses to tend to the sick. Broken arms, sore tummies … you name it, we had it in Nursery but we hope that everyone felt better by the time these kind hospital staff looked after them.
Buddy Letters
Our Primary 6 buddies very kindly took the time to write letters to their Nursery child’s family so that they know a little about them and they introduced themselves to their parents/carers towards the end of term. We hope that this has eased a few of the worries you may have had about your child moving to Primary 1 and that you enjoy sharing the letters with your children.
Thank you Primary 6 children for doing a super job. The Nursery children are looking forward to seeing you again in August when they start in Primary 1.
Nancy Had Fun
Nancy’s family has been catching on our recent events on the blog. They have left comments to let us know what Nancy enjoyed.
“Nancy loved the big pedal fun day and being in the tractor. She loves messy play & doing experiments.”
“Nancy loved her visits to primary 1 and getting to go into the playground with her buddy.”
On the pre-writing skills workshop: “Nancy had so much fun that day, she couldn’t decide what she wanted to do first.”
On Health Week: “Nancy said she had loads of fun doing taekwon-do. She said she loved cycling the bike to make a smoothie but she didn’t like the actual smoothie. Nancy enjoyed sports day, she had so much fun. “
“Nancy was so proud to get the achievement award (at our graduation ceremony). Thank you so much.”
We loved all these different events too Nancy so it’s great to know that you had fun. Thank you for taking the time to leave us comments. We hope that you continue to enjoy your time at Hecklegirth when you move to Primary 1.
Sunshine And Holidays
We hope that you have enjoyed the first sunny day of your holidays and that you all have a lovely summer with your families. Please keep your eyes peeled here as we still have lots of different photos to share from the end of our year. We will continue to post them over the next week or two.
Bye Bye Butterflies
Just like the Rainbow Room, those in the Raindrop Room cared for their little caterpillars until they developed into butterflies and were delighted to release them in their garden. Keep a close eye out for them when you’re out and about in the summer holidays everyone.
