With all the excitement of Bonfire Night, the children were keen to create their own firework art using a range of resources. There was paint and glitter everywhere but we love the children’s work. Here is a gallery from the Rainbow Room where the children’s work is now displayed for everyone to see.
Busy, Brilliant Children
Mrs Irving has been looking at the video of the children making their firework art outdoors:
“Watching this has made me smile! What a fabulous, fun filled fireworks day with our busy, brilliant children!”
We certainly had a very busy day with lots of fun activities. We hope that our little video gives our families a taste of it.

Art From Nature
I wonder if any of you have noticed the new decorations hanging from the ceiling in the Raindrop Room? The children used fresh flowers and leaves to create these beautiful pictures at the end of last term and they are now hanging by the window near the story area.

Hairdressing
As we had a hairdresser’s salon in our role play area, we thought that it would be a good idea to invite a hairdresser in to talk about her job. Fortunately for us, Layla’s auntie kindly offered to come and show us what a hairdresser does. We found out how she learned to be a hairdresser and that she started out using a doll’s head like we had in our area. Lucky Layla even got a haircut in Nursery so that we could see how she works. Thank you so much to Layla’s auntie for coming in to see us. We think that we may have a few budding hairdressers in our midst after your visit.
Pumpkin Investigation
The Raindrop Room children investigated the contents of a pumpkin last week as they planned to decorate it for Hallowe’en. With various options of facial features, the children used tally marks to have their say about their preferences then took turns to empty the pumpkin contents and discuss their findings before their pumpkin was carved.
Happy Retirement
Friday was the last day of work for Mr. Nicholson, our janitor, so he got to sit in the “special seat” in the Raindrop Room to get his card from the children. We want to thank Mr. Nicholson for everything he has done for us over the years and wish him a very happy and healthy early retirement. Children, parents and staff will all miss him very much.
Word Of The Week
With Bonfire Night approaching, “Word of the Week” in both rooms will be ‘safe’ this week.
Fun And Games
As so many of the children had dressed up for Hallowe’en on Friday, we all went to the school hall to have some fun playing games. “Pass the Hat”, musical statues, corners and so much more … we all had great fun and everyone was certainly ready for their lunch after our time in the hall.
Belated Hallowe’en
With the school photographer in on Hallowe’en, we thought that it was not such a good idea to dress up but some took the opportunity to put on their Hallowe’en outfits today and we think that they all looked great.
