Bird Watching

Sophie’s family has sent in a lovely activity suggestion that they are taking part in and would like to share with other families.

” There’s a wildlife census we can all fill in online from 1st July recording any sightings of these birds and creatures in our gardens in June. – Sophie and max are loving watching out for them all and learning lots about them different species and which ones come out at night for example they can now identify starlings, magpies, blackbirds, blue tits and are really excited to tick them off the list. “

Good Luck In Primary 1

As we approach the end of our year in Nursery, it is disappointing that we will be unable to hold our graduation ceremony, due to the current situation. For children, parents and staff this is a great miss as we would have liked to mark the transition of our eldest children to Primary 1.

As a record of the time you have spent in Hecklegirth Nursery, we would like to share this video which includes all those moving to Primary 1 in various schools. We wish you and your families good health and lots of happiness in the future and know that you will all have great fun in Primary 1. “Reach for the Stars” all of you!

Busy Briana

Briana’s family has sent some lovely photos of her busy outdoors. Briana has been growing her own flowers and carrots, as well as feeding the birds, so she has certainly been kept busy while Nursery has been closed. Very well done Briana and thank you so much for sharing your lovely photos. It’s great to hear from you.

Build A Dinosaur

Just look at the super teamwork happening here with some of the children from the Raindrop Room last term as they decided to create their own dinosaur. They had lots of discussion about what their dinosaur would look like and used a range of resources to create it. It was lovely to see them working so well together and they all had a sense of achievement once they had completed their work. Well done everyone involved.

Alfie

Alfie H’s family has sent us a message:

Public Health Scotland are undertaking a COVID-19 Early Years Resilience & Impact Survey. They are keen to share this with as many parents/carers as possible to find out more about how COVID-19 has been affecting the health and wellbeing of younger children (age 2-7 years) in Scotland.

Self-Portrait

Miss Campbell and Mrs. Mahon are both very much looking forward to getting to know all the new children who will be joining them in August. We thought it would be lovely if everyone moving to Primary 1 at Hecklegirth drew their new teachers a self-portrait to display in class.  So get busy, boys and girls, with your pencils, crayons and pens, and draw yourselves so that your new teachers can see what you look like.

Please put your drawings in an envelope or a poly pocket and post them through the school door so that they can collect them to make a display in your Primary 1 classroom. Make sure that you or your family put your name on the drawing so that Miss Campbell and Mrs. Mahon know who it has come from. It will be exciting to arrive in your new classroom and see your drawing displayed so we look forward to receiving all your work.

 

Fly Away Butterflies

Mrs. Mackay and her family have kindly shared a video of the moment they released the butterflies they had so carefully nurtured. In the end all ten butterflies emerged from their chrysalises so they had great success. Mrs. Mackay’s daughter was very lucky that one of the butterflies landed on her hand so she was able to get a close look at it for a while before it flew away to a new life. Mrs. Mackay says that this was a great experience which they all plan to do again in the future.

Thank you very much to you and your family for sharing all your photos and videos over the weeks Mrs. Mackay. We are sure that everyone has enjoyed seeing the progress of those little caterpillars.
