The Sunshine Building Team

We had a busy morning in the Sunshine Room on Friday as we prepared to transform our role play area into the Three Bears Cottage. New play panels needed to be put together and there was some tricky construction work to make our new table and chairs ready for Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Well done to the busy little team of builders who worked well together all morning to set up our new area.

Star Awards

This week’s Hecklegirth Star Awards go to Ericka and Kelsie from the Sunshine Room and the Rainbow Room’s Caitlin. All these girls have shown themselves to be good friends in their play, showing particular kindness to others so well done to you all. Next week our Health and Wellbeing focus will be on caring so let’s hope we have lots of caring children in Nursery to choose from for Miss Wilson’s award.

Hecklegirth Pizza Parlour

We encourage the children to be as independent as possible in Nursery and this week they have been working well together to make their own snack. Pizzas were on the menu and, as you can see, we have some budding young chefs among us. They made a great job of preparing snack, showing an understanding of hygiene rules and good spreading skills, as well as super teamwork. It seems that the pizzas went down a treat so we look forward to the next cooking delight from the kitchens of Hecklegirth Nursery.

Hecklegirth Nursery Stars

This week our Health and Wellbeing focus has been on politeness and manners. We have established our Nursery rules and the children have been asked to try their best to use ‘please’, ‘thank you’ and ‘sorry’ appropriately.
As part of a whole school initiative, Hecklegirth Star Awards will be given by Miss Wilson to children who have demonstrated success in this area of their learning. Our stars this week are Leah from the Sunshine Room (morning) and Jessica from the Rainbow Room (afternoon). Well done to both of you for showing wonderful manners – we’re sure that your families will be very proud of your lovely certificates.

Paint, Pencils and Glue

Most children have been enjoying exploring a range of resources as they settle into Nursery routines. Our walls are now looking much brighter, thanks to the wonderful pieces of artwork produced by the children. Paint, pencils and glue are all part of the Nursery experience and, as you can see below, they have used the materials well. I wonder if any of the children can spy their work?

First Days

We have had a super start to our year, as we begin to get to know our new children and their families, as well as welcoming back the familiar, happy faces. After two short taster sessions, when the children have had fun and begun to try out a variety of activities, they will now attend for the full session from Monday, 27th August.
As the coming weeks unfold, they should grow in confidence in their new environment. However, if your child takes a little while to feel comfortable, please allow him/her time to take things at their pace: we, as adults, cope with change in different ways and at different rates and children are exactly the same. If you have any concerns, please speak to staff who can offer you advice based on their experiences.
Once we have blog permission slips returned, we will be able to put photos and examples of the children’s work here. We hope that you will find this a valuable insight into your child’s experience of Nursery and that you will share in the life of the blog by adding a comment by clicking on the word ‘comments’ underneath the post title.

Not Long Now

As our summer holidays draw to a close, we hope that the children are beginning to get excited about the start of a new year in Hecklegirth Nursery, whether they are returning or it’s the beginning of their time with us.

Our increased roll means that we will have two Nursery classes this year and children have been allocated a place in either the Rainbow Room or the Sunshine Room.

We would also like to remind parents and carers that the children will attend for one hour only on the first two days, Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th of August.

You will find details of your child’s time and room on the letter you received, allocating your child a place. If anyone is unsure of their child’s details, staff will be in Nursery on Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd August and we will be happy to take your call to confirm this.
