This is just a reminder to all parents and carers that the Nursery library is open weekly. The Rainbow Room can access the library every Wednesday 9.00 – 9.15 and the Raindrop Room on a Thursday at the same times. If your child is not in Nursery at these times, please speak to staff and we can arrange books to be changed at a different time.
We hope that all children who borrow books are enjoying reading stories to their adopted teddy bears. We still have lots of bears who would love a new home full of lots of cuddles and stories. We look forward to seeing you all at the library this week.
Swiss Roll Skills
Just like the Raindrop Room, a group of children in the Rainbow Room recently developed their skills by making a Swiss roll. They showed great listening, concentration and fine motor skills, as well as developing their learning in Sciences and Technologies, producing a super cake for their efforts.

Word Of The Week
In the Rainbow Room our “Word of the Week” focus will be on ‘healthy’ while the Raindrop Room will be looking at ‘history’.
Welcome Back
We hope that everyone has enjoyed their holiday with their families. Nursery starts back tomorrow, Monday, February 24th, at our normal times.
Details of upcoming events can be found on the “Dates for your Diary” link on the right under “Support Information”, for example this week we have the Book Fair and Nursery enrolment. As always, these details will be updated if any further dates are arranged.

Musical Fun
Ella’s Mummy very kindly shared her talents with us recently when she brought in her fiddle and accordion. The children talked about what the instruments were made of and listened carefully for loud/quiet and slow/fast music. Great fun was then had by all as they clapped, danced and marched to a range of tunes including personal requests such as “Twinkle Twinkle” and “Humpty Dumpty” as well as Scottish music. Thank you so much to Ella’s Mummy for entertaining us and providing the children with a close-up look at these instruments which most had not seen previously.
Chinese Writing
Developing fine motor control plays an important role in the children’s activities in Nursery so, as part of their focus on Chinese New Year, some of them tried out their skills at copying some Chinese writing and numbers using both paint and pens. They showed great enthusiasm and concentration, producing some super work.

The Swiss Roll Challenge
This group in the Raindrop Room recently developed their baking skills by making a Swiss roll. As you can see, a lot of care was required, for example when cracking eggs, weighing ingredients and using the food mixer, but they proved themselves to be ready for the challenge and produced a wonderful, tasty end product.
Thoughts Of Love
The children in the Rainbow Room thought about who they love and why as they learned about Valentine’s Day. We would like to share some of their thoughts.
Tom: my Dad and my dog who died. My Dad’s the best Dad in the whole world.
Zack: my Mum, she cuddles me.
Kaius: Grandad makes me happy.
Poppy: I love Leigha because she plays with me.
Emmie: Mum, Dad and my pets because they love me.
Skye C.: Mum and Dad because I’m getting a new house.
Jessica: I love my Nani and my family because I get sweets.
Arthur: I love my Mum. She makes me nice dinner.
Layla: Nana because she’s mine.
Alex: my brother, he makes me the best tracks.
Alfie J.: I love Poppy because I do.
Leigha: my family. They give me lots of food.
Sophia-Rose: I love my family because I get Christmas toys.
Berrie: I love my Mum and Dad. They give me hugs.
Jackson: my Mummy, she makes me yummy breakfast.
Happy Hearts
Staff and residents at Lydiafield Care Home made a group of our children very welcome when we went on a return visit on Valentine’s Day. We felt so proud of our children as they chatted to the residents who were delighted to receive their gifts of roses, shortbread hearts and little craft hearts that they had made themselves. We hope that the ladies and gentlemen of Lydiafield enjoyed the visit as much as we did. Thank you very much for inviting us. We hope to see you again soon.
