Snack In The Dinner Hall

Last week the children enjoyed snack in the dinner hall. We all liked the sound of the lunches that Mrs. Martin was preparing although some expected to then get the roast chicken or wraps that were for lunch that day and were a little disappointed to make do with a drink, biscuits and fruit. It won’t be long until some of you are enjoying the delicious lunches every day boys and girls.

Harvest

Earlier this year some children and their families worked together in a Family Learning project to plant vegetables at home and in the raised beds in the Nursery garden. Today they returned to the beds to harvest some of their crop. As you can see, they had great fun making faces with their vegetables as well as tasting them. (It really seemed a bit warm to make soup as planned). It’s interesting how some children won’t normally eat vegetables but they enjoyed tasting those that they had grown. Thank you to Eileen, as always, for providing her super Family Learning activities.

Important Post

Last week a small group of children had an important job to do as we had lots of letters to post. They were very important letters as they were telling the new boys and girls which group they would be in next year and were inviting them to come to Nursery for a visit. There were a lot of stamps to be stuck and letters to be posted but you must have done a good job as nearly all the new children came to visit us today. Thank you to all the families who brought the children for their visit today. We really enjoyed meeting you all and look forward to seeing you again in August.

All Grown-Up

Sophie’s Mum enjoyed the photo of the Sunshine children who made an invitation for Mrs. Alexander:

“Sophie told me all about the invitation and how they went with Mrs Grey to deliver it. She said they decorated it with flowers. The girls all look so grown up and ready for school now. I’m really going to miss all these photos on the blog, it’s such a lovely way to see what Sophie gets up to at Nursery!”

They do look grown-up and ready for school, don’t they? It’s lovely to see how much they have grown in confidence in their time in Nursery. We are very proud of all the children as many prepare for the next step to Primary 1.

Move Up

Ava’s Mum commented on the children visiting Primary 1 and how happy they are:

“Ava really enjoyed visiting Primary 1 and is looking forward to going again on Thursday. Great to see them so happy and relaxed in their new classroom.”

It has been lovely to see how confident the children have become in their new classroom. We hope that they enjoy themselves this afternoon when they all get time together as part of their “Move Up” visit. We are also looking forward to our new Nursery children visiting us this afternoon. We have enjoyed their visits with playgroup and hope that they are looking forward to showing their families our Nursery.

A Special Invitation

Some of the children in the Sunshine Room were very busy this morning making a graduation invitation for Mrs. Alexander. There was some fantastic writing and lovely drawings to make it special and Mrs. Alexander was delighted to get her invitation. The children have been practising their songs and are looking forward to performing them to everyone on Tuesday.

Clever Crocodiles

What a lovely start Mrs. Lindsay had to her birthday when a group of Nursery children paid her a visit in Primary 1. Mrs. Lindsay was very impressed with their work on the crocodile story – making crocodiles from playdough and bricks as well as super drawings of the characters in the story. Some of the children even helped Primary 1 to tell the story themselves. Thank you Mrs. Lindsay, Mrs. Waugh and Primary 1 for a great visit.

Snack Shop

With the sun shining and the outdoor area beckoning, many of the children are not so keen to have snack on these hot days so a shop was set up to sell milk, water, grapes and strawberries. Suddenly it seemed that everyone was hungry and thirsty and, as you can see, the little shop did some very good business out in the garden.

Cinema Visit

Thank you to everyone for bringing the children to the cinema today. We hope that they had a good time. They certainly seemed to enjoy the film and everyone behaved beautifully. Here you can see the afternoon children waiting in the sunshine to go into the cinema and getting ready for “Postman Pat” to start.

We’re All Going On A Summer Holiday

The sunny weather seems to be putting a big smile on everyone’s face this week and lots of children have chosen to play in the garden. This happy, little group spent a long time working together to make a big bus because they wanted to go on their holidays. Well done for super teamwork boys and girls. I wonder what you’ll make next?
