Settling In

We hope that everyone is beginning to settle in to Nursery life. We have certainly had a great time getting to know all our new children and their families and are delighted with the way in which the children have settled. It has been lovely to see all the familiar faces from last year too.
We thought you would like to see a few photos of the children at play. Once we have blog permission slips returned, we will able to share more photos here. We hope that you will find this a valuable insight into the life of our Nursery and that you use the blog to add comments about your child’s experience. Simply click on the word “comments” under the title of this post if you wish to leave your comments. Please be aware that these will not appear immediately, as they are monitored by the administrator before publication, but you should see your comment within a day or two.
Thank you to all our parents for working with us to ensure a smooth and happy start for the children.

Super Sunflower

Last term the children planted sunflower seeds in Nursery and took them home so that they could care for them. Some children brought them back in to show us once they had started to sprout and they seemed to be doing a super job of looking after their little plants. Mollie was telling us today that her sunflower had grown lots over the summer and her Mum has sent us a photo to share with everyone. Well done Mollie! You have looked after your sunflower really well. I wonder if anyone else has a photo of their sunflower?

Start of Term

We are looking forward to seeing everyone when Nursery starts on Wednesday. It will be lovely to see those who are returning for their second year and to get to know all our new children and their families.
Our hours have been extended, in line with all pre-school providers, to offer you a possible 3 hours 10 minutes per day. This means that morning children can arrive any time between 8.45 and 9.10 with the morning session ending at 11.55. All afternoon children start at 12.15 and can be collected from 3.00 until 3.25.

Please remember, if this is your child’s first time in Nursery, that we suggest he/she comes for one hour initially to help him/her to settle in.
Red and green groups have been allocated 9 – 10 a.m. or 12.30 – 1.30 p.m. depending on their session.
Blue and yellow groups have been allocated 10.30 – 11.30 or 2 – 3 p.m.

For those who ordered Nursery uniform, this can be collected tomorrow, Tuesday 19th August, at the school office between 10.00 and 12.00.

Welcome

We hope that everyone has been enjoying their holidays and that you are beginning to think about starting Nursery next week. We are delighted to say that we will have two new members of staff joining the Nursery team, Mrs. Stott and Miss McVicar. They are our newly appointed Early Years Support Assistants and will work part-time with both morning and afternoon children. We are looking forward to both ladies joining our team and hope that they enjoy their time in Hecklegirth Nursery.

Shopping In The Sun

As we start to enjoy our holidays, the weather seems to have forgotten that it’s supposed to be summer. Here are a few photos from last week when the sun was shining and some of the children made a sweetie shop outdoors using their snack drinks and fruit. Let’s hope that you’ll all be enjoying some outdoor play at home soon if the weather improves.

Proud Parents

Thank you to Sophie’s Mum for her lovely comments both on Family Learning and our graduation:

“We have really enjoyed all the sessions with Eileen, its so nice to be involved with School life.”

“The Graduation was fantastic. All the children sang so confidently and were very brave getting up onto the stage. Such a lovely ceremony. We were very proud parents!!”

We all felt very proud of the children too. They are little stars.

Well Done!

Mollie’s Mum enjoyed our graduation and has commented on our photos:

“So proud of Mollie, she has fitted in so well at Nursery! Well done to all the children and good luck to the ones moving to P1!”

They did all do so well at graduation and we join Mollie’s Mum in wishing everyone best wishes for Primary 1 if they are leaving Nursery.

Graduation Day

How proud we all were of the children at our graduation ceremony today as they sang and danced to celebrate their achievements this year in Nursery. They showed great confidence to perform to their families and then to walk on stage on their own to shake hands and receive their certificates. Thank you to Mrs. Alexander for taking time to present each child with their award – we think her knees must have been very sore by the end of the day. Thank you also to all the family and friends who attended our little ceremony and for your support throughout the year.
