Scissor Skills

The craft area has been particularly busy this week as our learning has focussed on developing fine motor control, particularly when using scissors. The children are all at different stages of development but most have shown great motivation to work on holding the scissors correctly and to control them when cutting. We hope that they will enjoy further developing those skills at home. Here is a selection of their work from this week.

Good Teamwork

Ben’s Mum enjoyed the recent photos of Ben on the blog:

“Well done Ben! We had fun cutting out letters and numbers from old magazines.”

“Wow that looks fantastic, great job everyone!” (painting the raised beds in the garden)

Torrin’s Mum also left us a comment about the recent Family Learning activity:

“Imoen and I just loved getting to spend some crafty time with Torrin and the other children making canvas squares. Its been a joy to be a part of his first term at Nursery :)”

Letters and Numbers

Well done to those children who have brought letters and numbers from home for our display. Our display sheets are filling up now but there’s still room if anyone else wants to bring more in to Nursery. Remember to keep an eye out for letters and numbers when you are out and about – some of you are getting good at telling the difference between them.

Family Comments

It’s great that you are joining in with our blog. Thank you very much for sending us comments. Two families have enjoyed our outdoor learning photos:

“Kacey looks like she’s having fun.”

“It’s nice to see all the children enjoying the good weather. Callum always says that playing outside is one of his favourite parts of nursery.”

I wonder what other children enjoy best? We’d love it if you left us a comment about their favourite activity.

Outdoor Learning

Outdoor play continues to be very popular, particularly with the wonderful September weather we have been getting. Some of the children managed to work out how to make their own see-saw and everyone seemed to want a turn. Others enjoyed “buying” their snack at the outdoor shop which was selling cups of water and different types of fruit. Some children simply enjoyed sitting in the willow tunnel for a chat. As you can see, they all look happy and busy in their learning.

Joe’s Crumble

Joe’s family is pleased that the children enjoyed making crumble with their apples:

“Oh wow that looks like so much fun.
Glad everyone got to make something tasty.
Joe was very proud of his crumble and thought it tasted delicious.”

Thanks again for your contribution. The children thoroughly enjoyed turning the apples into crumble and were very keen to taste their cooking.

Kacey’s Having Fun

Kacey’s family has been enjoying the photos on the blog and left a comment about the recent Family Learning activity:

“Kacey and mummy really enjoyed decorating a square for the wall , we will definitely be coming back to the next activity.. Thank you.”

Kacey had also had fun making her apple crumble:

“Kacey loves cooking/ baking she was so excited when she came home!”

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a message. We are pleased that Kacey’s enjoying lots of different activities in Nursery.
