Thanks must go again to Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, for providing super Christmas activities for children and their families to enjoy together. There were reindeer sandwiches, Christmas cards and decorations on the go in the Family Room and they all looked like good fun. It’s lovely to see so many families participating, despite everyone being so busy at this time of year, and we really appreciate Eileen offering so many sessions. Even Steve the Star from the Sunshine Room made an appearance and seemed to be very interested in everything. We are already discussing the next Family Learning activity so watch this space early next term.

Starting School
As we now have the school enrolment dates in January, parents of those who are moving on to Primary 1 in August 2015 are warmly invited to attend our information sessions on Tuesday 16th December. Come along to the school library to find out more about our school from Mrs. Alexander, our Headteacher, and Miss Campbell, Primary 1 and Acting Principal Teacher. We look forward to seeing you there to give you an insight into life at Hecklegirth Primary.
Christmas Enterprise
Thank you to everyone who has placed an order for calendars. The children have been working hard to make all the orders to help raise money for their Christmas party and the “Sticky Kids” show and some calendars are now being sent home. We hope that, at £2.50, you feel that this is a bargain present for family members and we are delighted that we currently have orders worth over £250 which will pay for the show and help towards the cost of our party. We would like to thank you very much for supporting the children to take part in this enterprise project.
Nursery Visitors
Sophie’s Mum left us a comment about our new children visiting us:
“Sophie really enjoyed welcoming new friends to the nursery today. Looks like they were having great fun.”
We had more lovely little visitors in Nursery today who seemed to enjoy their taster session. We are looking forward to you all joining us in January.
Welcome To Nursery
In January lots of new children will be joining our Nursery and we are looking forward to getting to know them and their families. A few children visited today to get a taste of what Nursery is like and they seemed to enjoy the experience. We are looking forward to meeting more of you over the next week and hope that you all enjoy your visits. It won’t be long until you are coming to play every day.
Christmas Is Coming
As you may have noticed, there’s a feel of Christmas in Nursery already as the children are beginning to chat about letters to Santa and to learn some Christmas songs. We have also put a post box in each cloakroom area for the children to post cards if they want to bring them for their friends. Here you can see some very busy and excited children helping to decorate the trees in Nursery.

Festive Families
We would like to remind you that Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, has arranged activity sessions to get you in the festive mood by making Christmas decorations. In the past lots of parents and children have enjoyed doing this together and we are grateful to Eileen for providing the opportunity again this year.
You can join in the fun with glitter and glue on Friday 5th December, Monday 8th December or Tuesday 9th December. There are still some spaces left – just add your name to the list on the Family Learning notice board in the corridor.
A Cosy Campfire
Planks of wood and a few logs were all that were needed for this group of children to show good enterprising skills and teamwork. They worked so well together, listening to each others’ ideas and showing great focus and perseverance to build a den. The logs were used to make a campfire which one little girl pretended to start by rubbing two
sticks together “because it’s what camper people do” and they happily cooked sausages and potatoes. Grass and leaves were put on the roof to “make it cosy” and, at one point, a horse was invited to tea. What a fantastic team!
Award Winning Smiles
Kandinsky Comment
Mollie’s Mum enjoyed the photos of outdoor Kandinsky painting:
“Mollie and Orla look like they are having great fun painting outside! Mollie enjoys painting very much.”
The children did really enjoy trying to paint on a bigger scale in the garden.
