What a lot of patience and perseverance these young builders displayed when playing in the construction area. We were all very impressed with your super construction.
A Little Cheer
As we have been unable to continue with our visits to Lydiafield due to the current COVID-19 virus situation, the children have created a selection of artwork to send to the ladies and gentlemen in the hope that they may provide a little cheer at a time when they are not seeing any visitors. We would like to share a little gallery of their Spring flowers and hope that the residents of Lydiafield enjoy the children’s work.
Message To Parents From Director Skills, Education And Learning
Dear Parents
Covid19 Pandemic
I wanted to write to all families to confirm the message from the First Minister earlier this afternoon that schools and nurseries across Scotland will close from Friday. I will provide more detail on how we plan to support you and your family during this very difficult time as soon as this information becomes available.
We will send all information directly to Headteachers and will ensure that all Council communication channels (Website, Facebook and Twitter) are updated with the latest information for you.
If you are a worker within Health and Social Care or the Emergency Services, or if you have a senior phase pupil preparing for exams, targeted information will follow.
We ask that you continue to remain in contact with your school and your Headteacher if you have any concerns at all. Thank you for your support as we work through this difficult time.
Yours sincerely
Dr Gillian Brydson
Director Skills, Education and Learning
Dumfries and Galloway Council
Dinosaur Measuring
With so many children showing great interest in dinosaurs, we talked about how big they were compared to us as children and adults then how big they might have been compared to the Nursery corridor or the playground. Once some serious measuring had been done, we laid this paper out on the playground to help us appreciate just how huge dinosaurs were which certainly made everyone think.
Important Letter
We would like to remind everyone to check your child’s bag on a daily basis as staff will be putting any letters or children’s work in them before they leave Nursery. This week, for example, we are distributing the menus which will run from the new term and it is very important that they are returned to ensure that food orders can be sent to the kitchen in time for their ordering. Thank you for your patience and co-operation at this time.
Heart Rate
Energetic play has an important role to play in the children’s Health and Wellbeing development and most are more than happy to enjoy this, particularly outdoors. This little group of Rainbow Room children was learning about what happens to their bodies when they take exercise and they loved using technology to find out what was happening to their heart rate after spending time running as fast as they could.
Cosy Stories
Thanks to Miss Nixon, our children have been enjoying some cosy story times in Annan Academy library. We hope that in time all the children will have the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful experience and would like to thank Miss Nixon for her time and for making us feel so welcome.
Updated Procedures
Updated procedures in line with the current COVID-19 outbreak
As per government advice we ask that everyone follows the strict guidance regarding coronavirus symptoms. No person with a temperature of 37.8 degrees or higher and/or a persistent cough should attend nursery for at least 7 days. Please inform us if your child or anyone in your family has the above symptoms.
The following precautions will take place from Tuesday 17th March:
• For the immediate future we ask that parents/carers drop their children at the entrance doors to the nursery and outside the main office door and do not enter the building. You will be met by a member of staff. If you enter via the school office please ensure you arrive at your child’s allocated start and finish times to avoid waiting for a long period as staff will only be able to meet you every 30 minutes.
• All pupils and staff will follow hand washing procedures as per NHS Scotland advice poster.
• We will stop tooth brushing to limit our use of paper towels.
• We will stop self-service for children at snack and lunch.
Thank you for your co-operation and continued support. We aim to keep you up to date with any changes as we continue to follow guidance from the Scottish Government.
If you have any concerns please phone 01461 202629 or email gw08officehecklegirt@ea.dumgal.sch.uk
Certificate Winners
Huge congratulations to these recent award winners. We hope that you are very proud of your certificates.
Our Dinosaur Has Hatched
As the children in the Raindrop Room have been showing great interest in dinosaurs, an egg was brought in for them to hatch. Here the children have just discovered that their little dinosaur has hatched and they are discussing what type of dinosaur it might be and wondering how big it could grow.
