Olivia’s family enjoyed the photo of her and her friend in the police van:
“Quite right to have those two little rascals in a cage. Heehee”
Glad you enjoyed the photos. We promise it’s not a cage really.

As promised, here are photos of the children enjoying an afternoon visit to the police station. Just as with the morning children, they behaved beautifully and made us very proud. Thank you so much to the parents and grandparents who came along with us, we hope that you enjoyed a visit out in the community with the children.
Eadie’s big brother has been looking at her work in one of our posts:
“Way to go sister. You must have tried really hard to do that writing x”
What a kind comment to leave for your sister, Eli. It’s lovely to hear from you and we hope that you are enjoying Primary 1.
We hope that lots of our children will take part in this week’s competition to hard boil and decorate an egg. Entries can be brought in to Nursery on Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th March to add to the whole school display. There will be prizes for the best egg in various groups and ours will be in the Nursery and Primary 1 section. Adults have their own section so the grown ups in your family can have a go too. Have fun decorating your eggs everyone – we look forward to seeing them soon.
This week’s visit to the police station was a great learning experience. We were shown round the cells, as well as the rooms in the police station used for interviews and fingerprinting, and we found out what happens when someone is brought in to the police station. Some of the children tried out the hard beds and, although they thought it was great fun to try them out, most agreed that they would not like to sleep there.
The police van, of course, was very popular and most had a turn at sitting in the front and the back of the van. The blue light and siren caused great excitement although some had to cover their ears, the noise was so loud.
Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came with us on this visit – we appreciate your support. Thank you also to P.C. Leggett for answering some tricky questions and making us feel so welcome. These photos provide a taste of the morning children’s visit. We will post photos of the afternoon visit soon.
We hope that you have had time to look at our literacy posters which aim to give helpful, simple advice to support your child’s communication development. Thank you to those parents who helped us plan the format of the posters and to those who have kindly left us feedback on them in the form of post-it notes. We would appreciate any further comments to help us evaluate our work.
Please help yourself to a post-it note and add your comments – the posters are on display on the board near the Nursery entrance.
One of our older pupils has been visiting our blog and was pleased to see her cousin receiving a certificate:
“Congratulations Leah my wee cousin  xx💖”
Thank you Iona for taking the time to visit our blog and for leaving us a message. No doubt you are very proud of your little cousin.

Learning about our community and the jobs that people do has provided inspiration for some of the children’s drawings and paintings over the past week as they talked about the buildings and vehicles as well as people. Watch out also in Nursery for the street that the children have created in the craft area. Here is a small selection of the drawings and paintings that they have produced. Click then click again on the photos to see the names of the artists.
As part of our recent learning experience at Annan fire station, the children learned about staying safe out and about in our community. As well as finding out about the job of a fire officer, they took on the roles of different vehicles, as well as a police officer and lollipop person, to help them work out the safe way to make a journey. Jane and Jamie were very impressed with the children’s knowledge and we were pleased to hear that they had listened so well to advice from their families and Nursery staff about staying safe.
