We have had a super update from one of our families about what they have been doing while we are closed.

“V is been busy with her sister playing , learn do some art crafts she makes vase for the flowers with a can because she loves flowers, yesterday I talk about the super heroes and she doesn’t really no very well what’s a hero so I explained and she said he all can be heroes because he all can help each other. Here some photos show what we have doing. We hope you are all ok, and see you soon”

Thank you so much for sharing your lovely photos and for giving us news of what you have all been doing at home. It looks like you’re having a wonderful time. How thoughtful to say that we can all be superheroes by helping each other. It is great to hear from you and we hope that we see you soon too.

Bike Art Competition

We would like to remind you that today, Friday 1st May, is the last day to enter Mr. Palmer’s Bike Art competition. The challenge, if you want to take part, is to create your own ‘Bike Art’. You can use any materials from your home (ask a parent/carer to help you) to design your own special bike.

Please send your competition entry in as a picture to the school office on gw08officehecklegirt@ea.dumgal.sch.uk or email Mr. Palmer on gw08palmerchris@ea.dumgal.sch.uk by Friday 1st May.
We are looking forward to seeing all your finished entries. There will be a winner and runner up prize for Nursery-P1, P2-P4 and P5-7.

What Is Your Favourite Time Of Day?

As our “Rhyme of the Week” is Hickory Dickory Dock, we would like to share some photos from last term of the children making clocks. Inspired by our play tray of this rhyme, the children showed an interest in making clocks and they talked about what happens at different times of day and what is their favourite time.

Teddie likes 10 o’clock because “it’s snack time”.
Sophia-Rose chose 8 o’clock because she “likes bedtime”.
Berrie said that she likes 2 o’clock because “it’s fun”.
Layla likes 7 o’clock because “it’s time to get up”.
Jessica chose 1 o’clock because “it’s dinner time”.
Tom chose 3 o’clock because “that’s the time he gets to see his Mum”.
Kaius likes 10 o’clock because “it’s snack time”.

I wonder what time of day the children would say is their favourite at home? They could draw a picture of what they do at their favourite time. Why not go on clock hunt? I wonder how many clocks you have in your house? You could talk about why we need clocks.
I wonder if any of you can recognise your work here? If you click on the photos you should be able to see the artist’s name.

Fun In The Sun

It’s lovely to hear from our families and to get photos of what you have been doing at home. We would like to share this photo of one of our pupils enjoying time outdoors. It looks like he’s having great fun!

Isaac’s Tadpoles

In a post yesterday it was mentioned that one of our families plans to care for tadpoles in the next few weeks. You may be interested to see this bowl of tadpoles which Isaac W is caring for as part of his little tadpole project at home. We hope that you send us a photo of their development in the future so that we can all see how they are progressing.

Creating Memories Together

We would like to share this lovely gallery from one of our children, showing what she has been doing at home while Nursery is closed. We think that you will be amazed at how busy she has been.

She has been doing a lot of biking…4 miles a day to be precise! She is very fast, in fact can beat her mummy!!!

The family has been keeping busy in the garden, doing crafts, creating a fairy garden, redesigning her play house, planting plants, creating potions, weeding and painting lots of stones from the shore!

They created an Easter window display for a competition at her big sister’s school, it kept them busy for days!

They have been baking and decorating lots of cupcakes then enjoying eating them and sharing them with their elderly neighbours who they have been checking in on! With some help from her big sister she even made her mummy and daddy dinner one night! The family also made ice cream sundaes as a treat!

As always this little girl has been doing lots of role play with her sister! Midwives, teachers, princesses, hair dressers and they even set up a Spa and a Cinema to watch the new Trolls movie!

She loved watching the clip of Mrs Maxwell reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar which is her favourite bedtime story so she created a picture of the ‘fat caterpillar’ for her.

Their next project is growing butterflies and caring for tadpoles! Let’s hope they are as successful as last year!!

News From Sophie

Sophie E’s family enjoyed Mrs. Irving’s accordion video:

“Sophie loved watching this she’s very impressed! She’s missing nursery so much. We have been enjoying the good weather and going on lots of adventures. We have even grown some caterpillars into butterflies and set them free, its amazing to watch.”

We are impressed too Sophie. I think we will have to have Mrs. Irving bring her accordion in to Nursery for a live performance once we are back. Well done for looking after your caterpillars until they turned into butterflies. No doubt they will be happy enjoying the lovely sunshine too.

Super Ornithologist

Mrs. Irving enjoyed seeing the photos of one of our children busy learning with his family:

“How lovely to see what I has been up to. I am sure he will be a super ornithologist! I wonder what birds he will spot? Brilliant biking too I! Your leg muscles will be growing really strong. Well done!”

That is a long bike run. He certainly will be getting strong and fit.
