In the Rainbow Room “Word of the Week” is ‘symmetry’, as they experiment to make symmetrical pictures, and the Raindrop Room has “life cycle” as their focus as they are beginning to look after their caterpillars.

Sunflower Planting
After their cress planting, the children in the Rainbow Room moved on to planting sunflower seeds. They talked about how to look after their seeds to help them grow so we hope that they are now thriving at home with the children. We would love to hear about their progress or see photos to show us how much they have grown.
Our Local Community
As part of learning about our local community and the people who work in it, this group of children from the Raindrop Room investigated what shops were on Annan High Street and what they could buy there. Of course, our local community includes the park near our Nursery so they all enjoyed a little time there on their journey back and, as you can see, everyone seemed to have a great time.
Congratulations
Huge congratulations go to these recent award winners. Very well done! We are all proud of you.
Visits To School
The children who will soon be making the transition to Primary 1 at Hecklegirth have had a recent visit to the infant classrooms to get a taste of school life. As you can see, they settled in well and were confident to try out a range of activities. Thank you to Miss Campbell and Mrs. Mahon for making the Nursery children feel so welcome. They are looking forward to their next visit soon.
Medals And Lollies
Thank you so much to all family and friends who took the time to cheer on the children today in the gorgeous sunshine as they enjoyed their activities on the school field. Thank you also to the group of super buddies who were great helpers and supporters of the children.
We are sure that, like us, you felt very proud of the children as they confidently showed off their skills and great teamwork. We managed to capture photos of some of the children with those well deserved medals and ice lollies as they relaxed back in Nursery after their hard work. We hope that you enjoyed the day as much as we did. Well done boys and girls – you really showed yourselves to be ‘confident individuals’.
Fun Activity Event
The children have been practising their running and jumping skills to prepare for our Fun Activity event tomorrow (Thursday). They have grown in confidence, shown good teamwork and had great fun. We are looking forward to lots of families and friends cheering the children on as they show you what they can do. We hope to bring them on to the field around 9.30 when they will start moving round their activities.
It is quite tricky to get photos of the children practising their activities as they move so quickly but here is a taster of what they will be doing on our Fun Activity event. Fingers crossed that the sun continues to shine tomorrow.

Food Portraits
Our young artists in the Rainbow Room have been looking at the work of the artist Arcimboldo who was famous for creating imaginative portraits made of food amongst other things. The children have shown imagination and creativity to make their own portraits on slate in the style of Arcimboldo and developed their technology skills by taking photos of their work themselves. We loved their artwork and photography so much that we have made a display in the school for everyone to see. Great work children!
PEEP Group
Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, has left a message for everyone about her PEEP activities:
“If any nursery parents/carers are interested in coming to a PEEP group on a Monday afternoon or Thursday morning please let Nursery staff know”
These sessions are a great opportunity for you to enjoy a relaxing activity with your child and younger siblings are welcome to attend.
Stomping And Roaring
Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, has sent us a post about today’s PEEP activity.
“Today in our first PEEP session we stomped and roared like dinosaurs and painted dinosaur pictures with marshmallows and pom poms (and a little bit of glitter)”
That sounds like great fun and we love your artwork. Thank you to Eileen for organising PEEP for our families.
