“I’m A Little Teapot” Snack

As a celebration of World Nursery Rhyme Week, we held an “I’m a Little Teapot” snack time for our families and it was lovely to have so many parents, grandparents and younger brothers and sisters joining us. As well as a tasty pancake and fruit snack, the children enjoyed some drawing activities at the tables and everyone joined in when we sang “Five Currant Buns” and “I’m a Little Teapot” as our focus rhymes.
Thank you so much for joining us and for your feedback. It seems like this is something that everyone would like to do again so we will keep that in mind when working together with Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, to plan future activities. Thank you to all those who attended for making this a happy event for the children and thanks, as always, to Eileen for organising such a super event. Here is a gallery of our morning snack time. We will post photos from the afternoon soon.

Christmas Donations

Hecklegirth Fundraisers would like to invite our families to support local causes for the upcoming Christmas period. Kate’s Kitchen is in desperate need of
• bars of soap
• hot water bottles, mini or normal
• gloves (adult and child)
• socks (adult and child)
• hats (adult and child)
If you would like to donate, please hand in any of the above to Nursery or school by December 14th.

“I’m A Little Teapot” Snack

We would like to remind you that tomorrow, Tuesday 20th November, is the day when you have been invited to join the children for a nursery rhyme snack time as this week is World Nursery Rhyme Week.
There will be tea, coffee, scones, butter, jam and fruit for all to share, including younger brothers or sisters, and we look forward to all singing our rhymes “Five Currant Buns” and “I’m a Little Teapot”. Snack will be served around 9.00 and 2.00. We look forward to seeing you there.

Firework Art

Leading on from our discussions about Bonfire Night and then Diwali, the children have had the opportunity, in the art and craft area, to contribute to a display featuring fireworks which are central to both celebrations. No doubt it won’t be the first time this term that we have glitter everywhere but we think that the children have thoroughly enjoyed experimenting with various sparkles and stars to create their own bonfires.

Bonfire Night

Throughout last week the children have explored Bonfire Night through a series of activities with Miss Palmer. These activities also aimed to give the children freedom and options to promote creativeness.

Overall I have enjoyed carrying out all these activities with your children, the children have also had lots of fun learning about Bonfire Night through art and crafts, role play and discussions.

The activities included a ‘firework’ sensory activity with foam, glitter, lots of colourful letters which had allowed the children to practice writing letters of the alphabet.

The next follow on activity allowed the children to carry out role play at our ‘bonfire’ tray.

Recycling cardboard tubes, the children created their own ‘firework’ paintings.

Using their measuring skills, the children made play-dough and created ‘firework’ shapes.

The children used their hands as their main tool to create colourful ‘firework’ paintings.

Taking our learning outdoors, the children got creative ‘splatting’ lots of colourful paint on to one big art work piece.

Finally, several aspects of the activities were brought together to display the children’s work. The children loved seeing their hand prints all put together to create one big ‘bonfire’.
