It’s amazing what a tray of foam can provide in Nursery – you can make patterns, write your name, develop fine motor control and, of course, enjoy a wonderful sensory experience. This foam tray has been very popular in the Raindrop Room this week and has been a great social experience as new children and those who have been with us a while have got to know each other simply by sharing a calming, sensory experience.

Safe And Warm
A small group of children enjoyed our first fire of 2019 last week as part of their outdoor play. As always, the children listened well to stay safe and certainly enjoyed the delicious warm marshmallows that they toasted. Those large marshmallows seemed particularly popular.

Useful Information
We have now updated the link to “Our Staff” under “Support Information” on the right hand side of our page. This link will tell you about all staff in Nursery and what their roles are. If you are new to our Nursery, it may be worth investigating some of our other links down the right as we have built up some useful information there for all families.
Welcome To New Staff
We would like to extend a very warm welcome to all our new staff who started this term. An increase in hours meant that we needed to expand our staff and we are delighted that, after interview, we were able to add the staff below to our team. Mrs. Stott and Mrs. J. Carruthers will be familiar faces to you all but they are now in new roles. We congratulate all the new staff, wish them well in their posts and look forward to working with them all in the future.
Thank You
Thank you to Violeta’s family for leaving a kind comment:
“I want to say thank you to all staff for the big help you are giving us. I no she enjoyed every day. Xx”
It’s lovely to hear how our families are feeling about their children settling in. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a comment.
First Week
After our first week back, when lots of children have had to become familiar with a new environment and new staff, everyone seems to be settling in well to their routines. The children are investigating lots of different learning areas and are having fun experimenting with a range of resources. We would like to share a snapshot gallery of life back in Nursery after our holidays.
Happy Times
Thank you to two of our parents who have left comments on the start of the term.
Violeta’s family said: “Enjoy your time in nursery”. We hope that Violeta and all the new children are enjoying their Nursery experience.
Evelyn’s family also said,
“Evelyn is loving being back at nursery, she was so exited to come back and missed all her friends, we both are loving the longer sessions too, works out better for us. “
It’s good to hear that the extended hours are a good experience for Evelyn and her family. We hope that everyone else is enjoying the start to the term.
Settling In To Nursery Life
Twelve new three year old children have joined us this term and they are beginning to settle into Nursery life. They are becoming familiar with the routines and are beginning to grow in confidence to try out a range of activities. We hope that our new families enjoy using our blog to get a feel for life in Hecklegirth Nursery and thought we would share a few photos of some of the children enjoying their first few days. If you have not already done so, please return your child’s permission forms and we can show your child at play on our blog.
