Last week those about to move to Primary 1 at Hecklegirth in AugustĀ had their lunch in the school dinner hall. Many of the children already stay for lunch in Nursery but it was good for them to experience the serving system and the environment where they will have their lunch as P1 pupils. The children, of course, took this in their stride and we hope that they will be confident in the dinner hall once they are come to school in August.

Word Of The Week
The “Word of the Week” in the Raindrop Room will be ‘rehearsal’ while the Rainbow Room will have ‘graduation’ as their final “Word of the Week”.
Tennis Time
We have had so many experiences to share from our busy Health Week and here you can see some of the children enjoying a session with Mike, the tennis coach, who provided lots of fun activities to help the children learn control of a tennis ball. They showed great enthusiasm for all the activities, listening well and showing great concentration. Who knows we may have a Wimbledon star of the future here?
Award Winners
Congratulations to these recent award winners. Very well done for all you have achieved.
Make Your Own Smoothie
Trying out the smoothie bike was another great fun event that some Nursery children took part in during our recent Health Week. The children chose from a selection of delicious fruits and juices which were put in the liquidiser on the back of a specially adapted bike. They then pedalled the bike to activate the liquidiser and produce their smoothie. What an exciting way to make a smoothie – hard work but great fun with a tasty end product.
Farmer’s Den Fun
We would like to say a huge thank you to the Hecklegirth Fundraisers for paying for all the children to have a session at Farmer’s Den to celebrate our year in Nursery. Not only did the children run, jump and climb with boundless energy but they took some time out to draw or play with the bricks when they needed a little rest on what was a busy and very happy visit.
Thank you to all those who have contributed to the fundraising activities this year as you helped the Nursery children have a super session at Farmer’s Den.
Disco Times
Please note the change to the times for this week’s disco. It will now be held on Friday 21st June between 5.45 and 7.15. Entry is Ā£1 and Nursery children should be accompanied by an adult. We hope to see lots of you there.
Proud Family
Leo’s family has been looking at the photo of him with his certificate:
“Leo was so pleased with his certificate all his family are very proud of him.”
Very well done Leo! You certainly deserved your certificate.
Taekwondo Taster
As part of our Health Week activities, the children in the Rainbow Room enjoyed learning about taekwondo which brought lots of smiles to their faces.
Farmer’s Den
We would like to remind you that we will be at Farmer’s Den tomorrow, Monday 17th June, for the morning. Children who arrive at Nursery at 8.00 or 8.30 will be walked to Farmer’s Den by staff. All other children should meet us at Farmer’s Den at 9.00.
Children who go home at 12.00 should be collected from Farmer’s Den. Staff will then walk the remaining children back to Nursery where we have arranged for them to have a packed lunch from the school kitchen in place of their hot meal so that we can enjoy a picnic style lunch.
Snack at Farmer’s Den will be provided thanks to the generosity of Hecklegirth Friends who have also kindly paid for each child’s play session. As you can imagine, this amounts to a very large donation which we are extremely grateful for. We look forward to seeing you there.
