Whenever we have taken opportunities to learn about freezing and melting outdoors, the children have always been fascinated and excited by the changing state of the water. This term, as part of our Sciences activities, we have explored this interest further by making ice marbles using balloons. As you can see, there was always an enthusiastic group of children keen to participate and investigate what would happen to our marbles. We melted them indoors and outdoors as a comparison and the children loved it when we put objects inside our ice marbles such as paper confetti, dinosaurs and animals. They loved watching to see which hidden object would appear from the melted ice first and what exactly each ice marble held. They are certainly becoming great little scientists.

The Big Top
Leo’s family liked the photos of our visit to the circus tent:
“Leo was very excited to tell his family all about going to see the big top tent and was lucky enough to see the show on Sunday which he loved.”
You are a lucky boy Leo. You will have to tell us all about your visit to the circus.
Relaxation
The children in the Rainbow Room have been trying out some relaxation techniques recently, closing their eyes and listening to calming music. It’s surprising how good they have become at learning to relax their bodies. Here they are on Red Nose Day relaxing in their pyjamas – fortunately no-one fell asleep.
World Book Day
Nancy’s family has been looking at the photos of World Book Day when the children dressed up and brought their favourite books to Nursery.
“Nancy loved dressing up for world book day. Brilliant costumes. So nice to see so many of everyone’s favourite books “
It was lovely that so many children took part that day. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a comment.
The Big Top
The children had the opportunity on Friday morning to visit the big top as the circus was visiting town right beside our Nursery. It was exciting for everyone to see inside the tent and appreciate the size of it although we were not lucky enough to see a show. I wonder if any of you went back over the weekend to the circus?
Out And About
Nancy’s family has been looking at photos of some of our recent activities.
“Nancy loved the visit to the police station as I’m sure all the other kids did too. Nancy loved being in the back of the van “
“Nancy loved the visit to the fire station. Her big smile says it all x” and “Nancy said one of her favourite things was those ‘big scissors’ “
It was certainly great to get out and about in the local community. It’s good to hear that Nancy enjoyed herself.
Decorate An Egg
We hope that lots of our children will take part in this week’s competition to decorate a hard boiled egg. Entries can be brought in to Nursery on Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd April to add to the whole school display. There will be prizes for the best egg in various groups and ours will be in the Nursery and Primary 1 section. Adults have their own section so the grown ups in your family can have a go too. Have fun decorating your eggs everyone – we look forward to seeing them soon.
Story And Rhyme
Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, sent us these photos of her last Family Learning story and rhyme session on Thursday. Next term we will be doing PEEP, there will still be stories and rhymes but we will also be doing craft and play activities. More information has been sent out in the children’s trays and we hope that lots of you will be able to join in Eileen’s activities.
Word Of The Week
The Rainbow Room will be focussing on ‘senses’ as their “Word of the Week” this week while the Raindrop Room will have ‘Easter’ as their special word.
Police Station Take Two
Just as with the Raindrop Room, the children from the Rainbow Room made us very proud with their super behaviour and good listening on their recent visit to the police station. We hope that the children remember the message from P.C. Leggett that police officers are people who can help them.
Thank you again to all those parents who made our trip out possible. You helped the children to have a great experience.
