Primary 1

Miss Campbell kindly invited some of the children to play in her classroom this week so that they could get a feel of where they will be next year. All who went, settled very well and are looking forward to the move to Primary 1. We hope that more children will get the opportunity to visit Primary 1 soon and experience all the great activities that are on offer.

Bring Your Parent To Nursery

All the children love it when a parent or grandparent comes to join in a Nursery session and it’s great that several parents have come in to play in the last week or so. There are still a few weeks left to take the chance to see what the children do in their time in Nursery and everyone is very welcome to stay and play any day. As you can see, it will probably put a huge smile on your child’s face and you will doubtless have great fun too.

Nursery Visitor

Our little visitor from Ace playgroup enjoyed his recent visit to see his sister and her friends. His Mum said:

“Aww it looks like Ben was looked after when he visited! He felt like a big boy visiting his sisters nursery. Ben is really looking forward to starting nursery after the holidays, I’m sure he will settle in just fine. He loves to play in the sand tray most of all!”

It was lovely to have Ben and all the other boys and girls from Ace visiting us. It won’t be long before they are the big Nursery children. We are really looking forward to getting to know you all.

Bye Bye Butterflies

After weeks of watching the progress of our caterpillars who slowly grew and formed their cocoons, we finally saw our beautiful butterflies emerging in their net last week. After a few days of feeding them on sugary water and slices of oranges, it seemed that they were ready to be released and we could think of no better place to set them free than in our outdoor classroom among the trees and flowers.
They seemed to be a little nervous of leaving their safe little home and Miss Kerr had to give them a helping hand to settle on the flowers which gave everyone a chance to have a close look at our little butterflies before they slowly flew off.

Moving On

Carmen’s Mum enjoyed the photo of one of the children visiting from Ace playgroup:

“Lovely photo of Ben and the big girls. Hope they looked after you Ben? The big girls will be getting very excited to go be going into p1.”

It always seems amazing when this time of year comes round and we are getting to know our new children while preparing to say our good-byes to those moving to Primary 1. It is an exciting time for all the children.

Playgroup Visitors

Thank you to the children from Ace playgroup who came to visit us today as part of their transition to Nursery. It was lovely to meet you all and we are looking forward to you coming to us next year. There was a surprise for some of our children when a little brother unexpectedly appeared for a visit but they looked after him very well, showing him round all the different areas of Nursery. Thank you to the staff from Ace for bringing everyone over. We look forward to meeting the rest of the children soon.

Sticky Kids

We would like to remind everyone that tomorrow, 9th June, is our outing to see the “Sticky Kids” show. Children should arrive in Nursery at normal times and we will travel by bus. We are taking a snack so the children will not need anything with them apart from their singing voices. Thank you to all the parents who volunteered to accompany us. We are delighted that we have space for all the volunteers.

We’re Going On A Minibeast Hunt

The children have become very engaged in their learning about minibeasts over the last few weeks and have become engrossed in searching for them in the Nursery garden. As you can see, they have had the magnifying glasses and bug tubs in action and they worked well together as good detectives. The children quickly learned that underneath the alphabet stepping stones was one of the favourite homes of all sorts of minibeasts.

Colouring Competition

Carmen’s Mum commented on her competition success:

“Carmen would just like to say thank you for the lovely comment. She really enjoyed colouring in her yeti. She took her time and produced the best colouring in she had ever done. I was very impressed with her. It’s lovely to see your child growing in confidence in all areas.”

Well done everyone else who entered too. You all did very well.

Congratulations

When we visited Annan library for World Book Day at the end of last term, we were given a colouring competition for the children to complete. These were done at home and returned to the library staff who judged the winner for our Nursery. Here you can see the proud winner with her prize. Congratulations – there were a lot of super entries so you did very well.
