We have exciting news from Mrs. Mackay about the caterpillars her family is looking after. Just like Isaac’s tadpoles, they have grown and transformed.
This week all the caterpillars have made their chrysalises and have been transferred to their new home until they emerge. She had mentioned previously that she thought that one set was a little bigger than the other and reports that one pot did make their chrysalises two days before the other so that must be their age difference.
She also reports that they had one chrysalis which attached to the side of the cup and it then fell to the bottom of the pot but that it seems to be absolutely fine. Goodness me, we have had that happen so many times in Nursery in the past and have worried over our little caterpillars but usually they have been fine so fingers crossed. Mrs. Mackay said that there was great excitement in her house when the chrysalises started shaking when they moved them but they have settled down well now and her family is looking forward to seeing the butterflies emerge.
Thank you to Mrs. Mackay for sharing her photos and story about her caterpillars. We are looking forward to hearing about their next stage.
