Tropical Fruit tasting with P5D

Primary 5D Tropical Fruit Tasting
As part of our Rainforest topic, we have been learning about tropical fruit. As there were different kinds of fruit that we had not tasted before, Mrs Dyson arranged for us to have a tropical fruit tasting session. We discussed the appearance and fragrance of each fruit, before learning how each is prepared. Mrs Howie very kindly came to help with all the preparation. We learned how to use a sawing motion to cut our own bananas safely. We then helped ourselves to the fruit we wished to try and Mrs Dyson enjoyed hearing all our different responses. Next week, we will use our knowledge of the tropical fruit to write our own Rainforest Fruit Sundae recipes.

Fairtrade Assembly by P5

As part of Fairtrade Fortnight, Primary 5  have been learning about the issue of Fairtrade. We were visited by Mrs Van Zwanenberg [A Traidcraft representative] who made us aware of how Fairtrade products helpcommunities. We received great feedback from many staff and pupils. This Fairtrade Fortnight, please help ensure farmers get a fair price for the bananas they grow by choosing Fairtrade.

The school concert!

This year’s concert was another resounding success. We were able to showcase all the wonderful talent we have here at Dalbeattie Primary. Not only did we perform a super variety of festive songs but we also had performances from a range of musical instruments. Our P7s entertained us with a very good play about the hardships that Santa and his elves had to endure during WW2.However all ended well in the best pantomine tradition. The whole show was a chance for parents and friends to be proud of all our pupils.
