The P6 Caribbean Open Afternoon!

P6 recently came to the end of their Caribbean topic and organised a fun afternoon for their parents to celebrate their learning. They invited parents to attend an afternoon filled with yummy Caribbean cakes, drinks and music and challenged them to some Caribbean games and quizzes. P6 raised nearly £90 to put towards their summer trip. A fantastic afternoon was had by all!!

A visit from Professor Ellington

On Wednesday 22nd May the boys and girls in Primary 6 were lucky enough to have the opportunity to listen to a very interesting talk with Professor Ellington. Professor Ellington travelled all the way from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, where he lectures, to give us a ‘Guided Tour of the Universe’. We had a fantastic time and got to see some wonderful pictures of the galaxies, asteroids, stars and moons as well as the planets and had the opportunity to ask lots of questions. Professor Ellington was very impressed with how much we had learned already.

Live Music Now!

Primary 5 and Primary 6 pupils had the pleasure of being part of the Pitch, Pulse and Magic Tour run by Live Music Now. We were recently entertained by the Spencer-Strachan Duo, playing violin and cello. We learned the power of classical music in influencing our emotions and its ability to tell a story. We used this knowledge to compose our very own classical composition which the musicians played for us. They were impressed by our knowledge of the instruments and our ideas. We have really enjoyed being part of this experience. Previous visits included  Tom Poulson and Chris Baxter on trumpet and piano as well as Duende playing flute and guitar. We loved when volunteers participated in playing the instruments.
