P5s go chocolate crazy!

Both Primary 5 classes recently enjoyed an outing to the Cocoa Bean Chocolate Factory as part of their work based on the novel ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ by Roald Dahl. Melted chocolate was everywhere as pupils licked away chocolate moustaches during their chocolate making workshop. Pupils were excited to make their own decorated chocolate shapes to take home. They gained a wealth of knowledge from the presentation on how chocolate is made. Pupils will be adding to this knowledge in class when preparing their own presentations on ‘The Journey of Chocolate.’

Primary 6 science

Primary 6 went to Dalbeattie High School for science lessons as part of the early transition process to carry out a biology lesson. This will the first of three visits to the High School. They took part in a variety of experiments related to the senses and had lots of fun! They learned that a camel has two eyelids and there is a sound so high pitched that only children and teenagers can hear it!

Watersports with Primary 6

The Primary sixes recently took part in water sports activities at Carlingwark Loch and Loch Ken. We enjoyed kayaking and sailingwith the Outdoor Education Team. We split into two groups and alternated between the two activities.

Kayaking on Loch Ken was very exciting as we were out in the open water! We got to paddle in circles, make rafts as a team and practice getting in and out of quickly. We also got to have a swim at the end which was great fun! We had a fantastic time, the children loved it and were a credit to the school.
