Nursery: Divali (November 2012)
The children have been making lamps. They have been able to talk about the festival of Divali. They watched a video about this festival and they used materials on the interactive white board. They really enjoyed the texture of the clay and they tried hard to decorate the lamps using a range of beads and glitter.
Nursery: Baking Jam Tarts (November 2012)
The children baked delicious jam tarts as part of our day and night topic. They rolled out shortcrust pastry and cut pastry stars for the tops of the tarts. They were very tasty! They learned about cleanliness when cooking and the importance of hand washing. Well done boys and girls.
Nursery Owl Babies Topic- November 2012
- A field teacher from the RSPB taught the Nursery children all about owls. The children were able to make owl sounds and identify owls.
-
They have had a lovely time playing with the night animals puppets, especially the owls.
The children have been exploring light by playing with torches in the tent. The children loved this activity!
The children showed an interest in making a warm cover for the bed in the house. This has been extended into work on quilting. Look at our super quilt.
The children have also been creating their own quilt patterns at the sticking table.
The children were really pleased with their quilting work!
Nature area in Nursery Garden
Nursery Bird Garden Project (2011/2012 and 2012/2013)
The children had a fantastic time working with the RSPB to improve our garden and outdoor nature area. They have learned so much about birds and habitats.
Nursery Planning March 2013
Nursery Planning
The children are currently learning about letters and sounds. We have been taking part in an imaginary story line in which a princess from the magical land of ‘letters and sounds’ has asked all the boys and girls to look for letters because all the letters in her magical castle have disappeared! Can you see any letters? Look on signs, labels and anything else with print. We will be talking about sounds, e.g. clapping our names, talking about all the items that start with an initial sound and comparing rhyming words through listening and talking activities.
Nursery Polar Areas Topic- February 2013
Our Polar Areas topic was a huge success! The children learned so much about penguins and polar bears!
The children enjoyed playing with a range of equipment to develop their understanding of polar areas. They had fun exploring ice in the water tray and playing in the snow. They have been playing with an ice breaker ship in the small world area and they have been using polar animals in the igloo! The children also had visitors who told us all about their trips to the Arctic and Antarctica. It has been a fabulous learning experience for the children.
P7 Technology
Primary 7 have been making enclosures for Endangered Species; they really enjoyed this task and the endangered animal had somewhere to eat, play and sleep, the keeper could gain access easily and it was safe from the public.
What do you think of them?

Fairtrade Fortnight in P5D
As part of our Rainforest topic, we learned about Fairtrade. A representative from Traidcraft visited to tell us all about a fair price for fairtrade growers. We learned lots of information about how Fairtrade benefits people. We also looked at Fairtrade goods and investigated their countries of origin and how buying them helps the communities. As part of Fairtrade Fortnight, we sang songs, played games, read playscripts and designed posters. We created a display outside our classroom to inform others all about Fairtrade.
