This term we are reading Wonder and an important theme of the novel is bullying. We created a role play in a drama lesson in which we were presented with a letter from a boy who could not cope with what was happening at school. In groups, we came up with ideas to explain what might have happened to the boy at school and turned this into a role play.
Primary 7 received a training session from Saved by the Bell which will enable pupils to take on the role of teller, if they wish, for the weekly Saved by the Bell sessions. They were taught how to record the cash that is paid in and to ensure the balance is correct.
Primary 7 are using the book Wonder this term as their IDL topic and have been discussing the theme of the book – bullying, acceptance, kindness and prejudice. This week we talked about the qualities we have and took it turns to write these qualities on each other’s back, these qualities will then be used in the self-portraits we are creating.
Primary 7 have a weekly Play in a Pod session and look forward to it. This week we teamed up with Primary 2 and helped them create and build lots of different things. Rachel celebrated her birthday on Wednesday and her friends made her a birthday throne!
We have been revising the four mathematical operations and using Numicon, playing cards and number cards to generate 3 and 4 digit numbers. We are also revising our times tables and should continue to do this at home.
