WW2 Evacuations.

In literacy, primary 6 looked closely at different pictures of children during the evacuation period.  Primary 6 had to analyse the pictures, highlighting anything that stood out to them.  Primary 6 all paid close attention to the facial expressions of the children, deciding whether they looked happy or sad?

They then looked at letters children sent home to their parents/carers whilst being at their temporary homes.  As we learn more about children being evacuated during ww2, Primary 6 will then pretend to be a child during WW2 and write a diary entry – telling a little bit about the story of their evacuation and feelings.

We will use the audio book of ‘Goodnight Mister Tom’ as a stimulus.  Primary 6 will also be getting the opportunity to experience virtual reality.  This will allow them to experience realistic events of WW2, which will be a great stimulus.
