Music in the classroom!

This term, we’ve been trying to get a little more music into our classroom. We all agree that music can help with our mood: it can give us a burst of energy, it can calm us down, it can inspire! In other words, music can help us learn!

With that in mind, we decided that each day we would play a different genre or type of music. This music would be played at different parts of the day (for example, after lunchtime) to help us with our learning. As a big music-lover, I personally feel that having all these different genres can help expose us to music we’ve never heard before! I’ve included some examples below to give you all a taste!

We decided, then, that:

Monday would be Jazz (my personal favourite! Jazz can be energetic and calming.)

Tuesday would be Rock (U2, Thin Lizzy and the Cranberries only :p )

Wednesday would be Soul/funk (we’ve found that this upbeat music helps for our discussions)

Thursday would be Classical (this is fantastic for individual work and for helping us calm down after playtime/lunchtime)

Friday would be the children’s choice 🙂
