Mr McLean has been teaching us about pitch.
We have played some great games and had a chance to be the conductor.
We are enjoying the opportunity to read to the class.
Colby is helping us learn all about directions.
We have been using the number lines or tracks and rods to explore what 2 numbers added together make.
We calculated what 2 numbers added together would make and checked our answers using the rods and number lines.
Some children looked at finding missing numbers in number sequences.
What fun to read a story to your friends.
I wonder who else would like to read/tell their friends a story?
We enjoyed showing visitors from our families some of the activities we use in our class literacy lessons.
Our focus today was handwriting, with a few other literacy activities.
Some children were set a challenge to make a tree with the rods and then work out the value of the rods used in their design. Lots of adding in our heads was needed.
This tree has rods with a value of 34.
This design has a value of 50.
This tree uses rods with a value of more than 70!
We have been busy exploring numbers and time.
We ordered play dough numbers. AÂ friend took away a number and we guessed which number was missing.
We completed the time jigsaw.
We pulled a hidden Numicon shape from the rice, identifying the number.
We matched numerals to the Numicon dots.
We scooped up 3 table tennis balls ( with numbers on) and ordered the numbers.
We used the rods to work out which numbers added together make 20.
Matching the spots on the ladybirds to Numicon shapes is fun!
We counted the candles on the birthday cakes.
Playing the Numicon lotto game helps us identify big numbers in Numicon shapes.
Practising forming numerals is more fun using paint and chalk.
In one game, a friend takes away a number from the 100 square and their partner has to identify which one is missing.
We are enjoying lots of different ways to explore maths!
Always an opportunity for finding out about letters.
Reading is fun!
It’s wedding time in the home corner.
Time to put letters in alphabetical order.
Learning about the world as well as practising fine motor skills.
