Kodaly

Mr McLean has come back this term to teach us some more about rhythm and songs. We love Kodaly and were very excited to see him again and play some new singing games.

We had to guess who was underneath the yellow sheet.

Shapes

This term, we will be exploring and learning about 3D shapes. In the first week back, we have been looking back on our learning in Primary 1 where we learned about 2D shapes.

We made pictures from plastic shapes and then took advantage of the lovely weather we have been having and went outside to make shapes from natural objects.

We worked with a partner and had to problem solve when Miss Gunning asked us to make a circle. That was tricky using sticks and leaves……but we managed to do it.

Addition with Numicon

We use different strategies and materials to help us with maths. This week, we were using Numicon. We worked with a partner and played some games where one partner had to hide their eyes and the other took some pieces of Numicon away. We are really good at guessing which pieces are missing.

In the next few weeks we will be trying different strategies for addition and subtraction in maths using number lines, 100 squares, cubes and counters.

Colourful Art

In Art this week, we learned about the Scottish artist Steven Brown. He paints very colourful pictures of highland cows, giraffes and all sort of other animals. Here is the painting we used for inspiration.

We think we got pretty close. In fact, we think some of our designs are better!
