Primary 3- Blether stations about VCOP

We got in to pairs and had a blether about a simple sentence. Our job was to use an interesting opener, a connective, powerful vocabulary and punctuation to make it more exciting. We shared our improved sentences with the class. We then created a class spooky sentence from a boring one and Mrs O read it in her best scary voice, in the dark, with ghostly background music!

Primary 3 Amazing Algebra and Magical Mathematicians

Today we learned about and applied algebra outdoors! Algebra is used in Maths when we do not know the exact numbers in a calculation. In algebra we usually use letters to represent unknown values or values that can change. Today, however, we used natural materials from the playground to represent numbers in a calculation. Once we worked out the values of our objects we used them in calculations with a new object where the value was unknown. We then had to work out the value of the new object and stretch the brains of our friends by challenging them to crack the code!

Primary 3 Fantastic Firelighter!

Today the Leafy Leaders were at the flint and steel firelighting station. Using the flint and steel needed effective technique and lots of determination. Only 3 members of the group succeeded in creating a spark and igniting the cotton wool to make a fire and one of them was our very own Liam! Well done Liam and look out Bear Grylls!

Primary 3 – Brain training and measure!

We practised training our eyes and brain to recreate what a metre looks like using lots of different materials. Estimating is an important skill in mathematics and we have to use our memory and our understanding of length to try to get as close to a metre as possible. Once we were happy we checked it against the metre stick. Our sensible guesses based on our knowledge and experience were pretty good!

Primary 3 – PE

Miss Jeffery, our student, set up a series of assault course challenges for us today. We had to use multiple skills to be successful. Bouncing, dribbling, balancing, jumping and of course listening! Mrs O was exhausted, just watching this fast paced, non stop lesson! Well done Primary 3 and well done Miss Jeffery!
