Busy Business People

We are working hard creating beautiful frames and glitter tealight lamps for our stall at the Summer Fayre. We have taken out a loan of £25 and spent it all! Now we need to make our investment back and hopefully a bit extra! We have discussed loans, profit and loss and we were really excited to see £7 going into our money pot on Wednesday with our first pre-sale customers! Please support Primary 2 in their business venture!

Sharing a shell.

We have been learning about the symbiotic relationship that exists between some sea creatures and how this helps protect and nurture each of them. We read Sharing a Shell by Julia Donaldson and we’ve talked about the different creatures that live in a shell and how one animal’s behaviour can benefit another and protect the balance of  sea life. We have started making our own paper mache shells which we will decorate when they are dry and hard.

Moving on to metre measures!

We took advantage of the lovely weather to get outside for more measuring. We have done lots of work with non standard measures and we have chatted about the issues with using them. We came to the conclusion that having a way of measuring that was always the same and that people all over the world would understand would be better, especially when it comes to building important things like houses, roads and bridges. We then went out and about using metre sticks, estimating and measuring. There was some super maths on the go with some people using repeated addition to work out the length of a square in the playground or of the wooden raised beds. We have some excellent engineers in the making!
