We love to read! Here are some of the girls enjoying some quite time reading for pleasure. Look at our new comfy chairs and footstools Miss Thompson brought us from her house….they are very relaxing!
The Green group has been reading Black Hat Bob and did some lovely writing this week, creating Wanted posters to help catch the thieving pirate, Red Hat Rob. They made sure to explain what he had done wrong, what he looked like and what the reward for finding him would be. They hope to make these look more like real wanted posters later. Here are some examples. They say –
Top Left by Aaminah – Red Hat Rob is rude and freaky. He has a patch and has a sword. If you find him you will get a hundred pounds.
Top Right by Olivia – Red Hat Rob is rude and is a bully. He has a blue pirate coat and grey leggings and a shiny sword and a brown beard. You will get eleven and a hundred pounds.
Bottom Left by Liam S – Red Hat Rod is a thief. He has a sword and a patch. Find him and you will get a hundred pounds.
Bottom Right by David – He is a thief. He has a sword and he has a stripy t-shirt. Find him and get ninety-nine pounds.
We worked very hard during literacy today. After some sound work and spelling we focused on understanding the story in more detail during reading. Look at us working with our partners to read with a good storyteller voice! In writing we impressed Miss Thompson with beautiful sentence work.
P6 came to share the first of their 4 picture books with us this week. It was called Alan’s Big Scary Teeth and is about an alligator who learns to use his big sharp set of false teeth for good instead of scaring his jungle friends. We hunted for ‘wow’ words and then voted on our favourites. We made our own moving versions of Alan the Alligator and also wrote ideas to help Alan become a better friend to others.
We have created a comic book display showing all of Dennis and Gnashers adventures so far. Later, we will be working hard to write our very own captions to explain what is happening in these photos to others.
We rounded off our Bookbug work with a great celebration! Our parents and our buddies read with us and chatted about our Bookbug books. We all then voted for our favourite. Our winner of the Bookbug Picture Book Prize was The Shark in the Park on a Windy Day by Nick Sharratt!!!! It had more than double the votes of the other stories…..a clear winner!!! A huge thank you to P7 and to all of the parents and family members who took the time to come along.
We love listening to real authors reading the lovely books they have written! Maybe one day someone in p1 will be an Author when they are a bit bigger!!!!

Here we are sharing the story of There’s a Bear on my Chair with our p7 buddies. They have great storyteller voices! Together we took part in a mystery word hunt and we also spotted lots of rhyming words. We had great fun sorting the rhyming words from the others and sticking them on Mr Polar Bears big tummy.
