Our Learning 17.1.20

We did our first experiment this week, testing to see what kinds of materials float and sink. More importantly, we learned about predictions and making experiments fair.

We also finished our work on multiples and factors, all ready to begin a new topic next week.

We also had a lovely visit from Fr Ninian who spoke to us about the sacrament of confirmation and prayed with us.

Our big news this week is that from next week, Mrs Glancy will be our teacher. We look forward to showing her what we can do and learning even more from her.

First Week Back

We had a great Christmas break but have got right back into our learning this week! We all know about factors and multiples and can find common factors and common multiples of numbers.

We have been using digital technology a lot in our learning – our ePortfolios, our literacy lessons and consolidating our numeracy.

We have been doing Scottish Country Dancing but making it more fun by dancing to some of Mrs Simpson’s favourite tunes!

Our new topic this term is The Science Lab and we are looking forward to doing lots of experiments!

Merry Christmas

Well it’s been a very busy time in P7. We just recovered from our leading roles in the Christmas concert (which was a terrific success – Mrs Simpson was so proud of us!) and we were preparing for our Christmas party, MCing the showcase of clubs and enjoying the school mass and carol service. We managed to squeeze in some maths work on co-ordinates and some descriptive writing too! So now we’re off for a relaxing festive period.

We hope you  all have a lovely Christmas and a wonderful new year. We’ll see you in 2020!

Busy, busy, busy!

We’re keeping ourselves busy preparing for the Christmas show next week and finishing off some assessments for Mrs Simpson.

Our craft fair went well with our edible reindeer food, lanterns and candle holders for sale. We’ve finished off our newspaper reports and worked some more on solving word problems in numeracy.

We will hopefully see many of you at our last primary school Christmas concert on Wednesday!

Our Week

We are just back from our day at St Paul’s Academy. It was amazing! We did Science and Technology and Business things. It was a great experience. We enjoyed making Scratch animations, mixing chemicals and creating digital graphics. Now we know how fireworks get their different colours. Lunch was fab – the muffins were delicious!

We’re already looking forward to our next transition day in January!

An Update on Our Learning

It’s been a busy time in P7! We’ve done assessments on dividing by 2 digits and now we’re working on dividing by 2 digits. It’s tricky but we’re persevering.

We’re also working on our newspaper reports. We’ve researched our chosen subject and now we’re getting ready to write it up.

We’ve also been working on our Pope Francis Faith Awards, learning about empathy in  relationships, keeping control of our bodies in gymnastics and trying out different styles of artwork. On top of all that we’re deep into rehearsals for our Christmas show. Phew!!!

Learning Update

It’s a new term!

So far in numeracy we have finished off multiplying by 2-digits and we had a test this morning. We are also learning more about time. We went outside to draw clocks and times.

In art this week we have been learning about perspective and we drew our own perspective drawings.

Our new topic is news reporting and we are already working hard on the Christmas Show!

In PE we’re doing gymnastics and working on being safe and controlled.

This Week

Hi –  P7 have been working on our Macmillan  coffee morning. We have some awesome prizes! Remember the Macmillan coffee morning is on the 25th of September. We would love it if you came along and saw our amazing stalls – our cake and candy stall, our adopt a bear stall, our toys and books stall and our tea, coffee and juice stall. Hopefully see you there!
