For our build it Scotland project we built our landmarks which represent Dundee. My co-learning group landmark was Dundee`s new railway station. We had three weeks to build them and on the last week we had over an hour to get it finished. I`m really proud of my build because it`s really detailed and looks like a minecraft version of what the new railway station will look like. I really enjoyed building it as I can make my builds quicker and better than I used to. This is my best build in minecraft so far. I think if I could do it again I`d do the inside of the railway station – to add even more detail. I think I need to fasten up my speed with making it as well. I first did the curves in the building but because minecraft doesn’t have anything curved I had to use diagonals to make it curvy. I then made the glass windows which took most of the time. The hardest bit to do was the back of the building because it took forever to build. I have really loved doing this project and can`t wait to do things like this.
In our classroom, we used to have a Display all about Australia – which was our last topic. However this Project was about Dundee so yesterday we made paper collages of famous landmarks in Dundee. My class co-learning group did the Balgay hill. At first I thought it was going to be easy but after break we`d only had done the rough drawing of the hill! We then were told that we should draw some squares on the hills so it looked pixelated. I really enjoyed making the display!
As part of our Build It Scotland Project, in our co – learning groups, we used timelines to put famous events in history from long ago to quite recent. We used a decades [10 years] and century [100 years] for the most recent events and we used millennium [1000 years] for older periods in time [ the Egyptians for instance]. I had a lot of interest finding out what the date was for each card. It was great fun.
BBC Build it Scotland is where you get to create where you live in Scotland using famous Landmarks which are in your City . In Dundee we have many Landmarks to represent our City. So we where chosen into Co-Learning groups to Decide which Landmark each of us did. My group decided on The new railway station- so its going to be a little bit tricky to make it the exact same- as the new railway station is fully built yet. For Build it Scotland we`re using Minecraft To build our City!
I`m looking forward to seeing the end results of our City, as it will also be fun going into Minecraft and seeing our world finished as Dundee! We are also doing it for our Topic which is Dundee. This Project is really helping me know Dundee better – as I`ve only just moved here!
