Revamped Library

Our Library has had a bit of a revamp!

We now have lots of areas in our Library and the whole school got to visit the Library on Thursday 23rd May to see what it had to offer. It has a Library Activities area where there are word searches, colouring in sheets, book activity sheets and blank paper for drawing favourite characters or creating our own.

There is a Comic Zone. Here you will find comics, annuals, magazines, Beano and Dandy and more and last but not least Graphic Novels. At the moment we only have a few Graphic Novels but we are hoping to fundraise to get some more.

The ActivTable with lots of learning content to support pupils and extend learning taking place in the classroom.

A Listening Centre. At the moment we have a small selection of tapes and books but we hope that through our fundraising we will raise enough funds to buy some CDs and books.

A Promethean Board. We have a board now in our library area and this will give teachers the opportunity to deliver lessons to small groups of children or for children to practise their literacy skills through using the board.

A Story Corner area. A cosy story corner area for children to cosy down and read a book.

A multicultural area where we will have a diverse range of books and materials that will celebrate the cultures within our school.

And lastly…the Library area where children can browse for fiction or non-fiction books and sit and read or work at the table area.

When everyone visited the Library on Thursday they all wrote down their favourite book and we made an amazing display of the whole school’s favourite books. We are hoping to make sure that we can add all these books to our Library as soon as we can.

This Friday 31st May we will be having a Book Sale to raise funds for new books for our Library. We need to bring in old books in good condition from home and then the Librarians will see these on Friday afternoon to raise money to buy some new books, CDs and Graphic Novels. Any donations welcome. Please hand into the main reception of the school by Friday 31st May.
