100 Years

Dens Road School was formally opened on the 5th January 1911. We have just celebrated our one hundreth year.

To help us celebrate as a school we started the year with an assembly which the Lord Provost, John Letford came along to with Lina Waghorn from Dundee City Council Education Department and councillor Liz Fordyce. We looked at Dens Road PS in 1911 and what it looks like now.

Each class has had a decade to look at to help us understand the school through the last hunderd years. We had a 100 year cafe run by our P7’s and gave tours of the school. We finished off our celebrations with a Christmas Show through the ages.

We used a blog to share some of the extracts of our school log books dating from the opening of the school. These have lots of interesting entries about school life throughout the past 100 years.
