P2B 28.2.20

We were learning about dirty hands and we used soap and water. Also we used hand sanitiser. We were learning about germs. It was fun because the bread that we never touched, called the control, it helped us to know when would go out of date itself. One of the bread slices has turned yellow and the other one has turned black. One piece of the bread was black but another piece was more black. (JH, TK and EK)

In PE we were playing a game called Dance Detective and some people were doing moves. The other people had to copy the dancer. The dance detective was trying to guess who the dancer was. (CG)

We will continue learning about money and subtraction next week with some revision of 2D shape and 3D objects. Our sound is ‘are’ from care and share.

For topic we will continue to look at how to stop spreading germs through hand washing and vaccinations. We will continue to learn about Buddhism in RME and parts of the body in French.

Happy Valentines Day P2B 14.2.20

We made Valentines day cards today. Children we learning to make hearts using folding and symmetry.

“We were making our own buses. When we were doing it we were doing subtracting sums.  Some people forgot bags, toothbrushes, lunchboxes and passports.” (MB, CG, SL, JH, MD, KR)

P6 came to share stories of the creation from different religions.

We were practising our money skills through problem solving. For example, children needed to identify which 3 coins made 9p.

“This week we were learning about money. My group had a white board.  We were trying to write the price down and we needed to buy something on a card which was 9p and other prices. It was so much fun.” (HB and ER)

We were learning about our skin. We learned that it protects us from germs. We also started an experiment to find out what will to bread that we have touched with hand that are not washed, hands cleaned with hand sanitiser and hands washed with soap and water.

Happy holidays everybody!

P2B 7.2.20

“LR was putting blue beads into a tub and whites into a tub and purples in a tub to strengthen his fingers.” (JH and CS)

“MLS was doing a book blessing. She chose her favourite book.” (NB and TW)

“The class were learning about our bodies. We drew a picture of ourselves and we took a picture.” (MB and AC)

We were learning about body parts this week. If you are interesting in finding out more about how this is taught, and the subjects that will be covered over the next few weeks, please look at this resource. https://rshp.scot/first-level/#mybody. If you have any questions, please come and ask.

“The class were learning about Buddha and we had to colour in a picture of Buddha. We had to write a sentence about Buddha.” (CS and ER)

We looked at keywords about the digestive system. Children are bringing home a ‘map’ of the digestive system, which will use as the basis for their writing next week. Please encourage your child to practice telling you about it so they are prepared to share their knowledge in a written report next week.

Children were painting fruit like Cezanne.

Our class tried free writing this week, where they were able to write about anything they chose. The children really enjoyed it, and some created fantastic stories.

Gracie brought a certificate to show the class. Please encourage children to bring any achievements in so we can celebrate them together!

We will continue to focus on subtraction and money next week. We have set a sumdog challenge on money. If there is opportunity, please encourage your child to log on at home. Some children need some support to find out how many change they should receive if they pay for something with a 20p. For example, if I buy an apple for 15p, how much change should I get? If you are able to support this learning at home that would be really helpful.

Our sound next week will be u_e from huge brute. Happy weekend!
