Week beginning 22/10/18

In Writing, we wrote narrative poems about Autumn.  We tried to use similes, metaphors or onomatopoeia within our poems.  We wrote at least two verses with four lines in each verse.  We then redrafted our Autumn poems and illustrated them.  These poems will be displayed with our Autumn trees we drew in Art.  We used crayon to draw Autumn trees and we used Autumn colours for leaves on the trees and ground.  We tried to create perspective by drawing a larger tree at the front with a smaller tree in the distance.  We used a blue and green paint wash to paint the sky and grass.

In Numeracy, we were continuing to develop mental maths strategies for multiplying.  We used our knowledge of multiplying by 10 and 100 to complete calculations.   We also rotated round stations to complete multiplication calculations using a variety of contexts.

In Science, we used ‘Decision Trees’ to identify four animals in each vertebrate group – fish, mammals, amphibians, reptiles and birds.  We had to look at their features and identify the name of the animal.
