Music

Christmas party
Here are some photos from our Christmas party on the last week of term.
Classifying living things
We have been learning about classification and why it is used. We discussed the importance of classification and we generated ideas of which characteristics we could use to categorise animals.
We watched some clips to help develop our understanding of classification and completed a task sorting different mini beasts based on their characteristics.
Palm oil
This week we learnt a bit about palm oil and the impact it can have on the environment and the habitats of many animals.
First we watched Rang-Tan, a poem about the affect palm oil production has on orangutans. You can watch the clip here:
We learnt more about palm oil and why it is used by watching a clip by Greenpeace. We were shocked to see how many products palm oil is in- especially Nutella!
We then worked together to read through arguments on both sides of the debate and sort them into arguments for and against palm oil use. We discussed our own opinions on the debate and considered how we could support our points of view.

Outdoor learning
During outdoor classroom day, P4M and P4B worked together in small groups to create a piece of art. Each group was given a card with a photograph of either an animal or bird from around the Ochils and River Forth. We then had to use natural resources to create our own pictures of the wildlife.
In our groups we explored the playground, and found natural resources including leaves, sticks, flowers and berries to create our wildlife pictures. It was tricky to find all of the right colours to match to the photographs.
Then we worked together to decide the best way of creating our pictures. We placed the leaves on the paper and tried to decide how we should use them.
When we were happy with them we glued them on and used pens to add detail. Here are some of the finished pictures, don’t they look brilliant?
