We are enjoying our new class novel The Wild Robot by Peter Brown.

drama – Working in groups, we retold the beginning of the story focussing on the main points.  Groups worked well together and were keen to perform in front of the class.

We recreated Roz, the main character, who was struggling to fit into her new environment. We read chapter 15 and discussed how Roz had tried to camouflage herself. We discussed how we can help others feel welcome and how Roz might be feeling when others were being unkind, thinking about connections to our own lives.

Then we gathered resources outside and created a camouflaged Roz ensuring she matched the description in the text.

Book connections – In groups, we have been reading other texts and discussing connections to the wild robot by focussing on key themes and the writer’s message in each story.

Maths

We have been learning about properties of 2D and 3D shapes. We went outside and looked for some of these shapes in our own environment.
