Home Learning

At Muckhart, our aim is to support our pupils in becoming critical, curious, creative thinkers with a love of life-long learning.

We are aware that our pupils lead busy lives outside of school where they learn many valuable skills in addition to those they develop in school. Family time is precious too and children benefit hugely from the experiences you provide them with! Sometimes the pressure of formal homework with set deadlines and specified tasks can cause unnecessary friction at home with, as research shows, little impact on children’s learning.

For these reasons, we have adopted a flexible approach to Home Learning. Our approach will inform parents of the learning taking place in Literacy and Numeracy each term. It will provide pupils (and parents) with suggestions of ways they might practise and embed learning at home and it will enable each family to use home learning in a way that works for them.
