Every second week we continue to work with The Ochil Garden Group. We have planted bulbs for the spring. Now we are making sure to look after then in our classroom. Making sure they have light and some water.
Also we planted some vegetable seeds which we made sure to do very gently as they are delicate. These have been taken to The Ochil Garden Groups green house to keep them safe and warm so they can start to grow. We are really excited to see what happens to the seeds in the next few months.
Joe: I liked how they let us carve pumpkins
Erin: I liked planting the bulbs and looking forward to what come out like.
Emma Cu: I am enjoying new stuff with them that I have never done before.
In class we have been consolidating and learning how to login in and log off safely. We have now begun to explore how to navigate a Word Document; we have looked at typing, changing the font and style, how to copy & paste and save our documents. To extend our work on a Word Document we have now started to do an online typing program. Its a fun and interactive program which helps you to type with two hands without looking.
The 26th of September was European Day. As a school we celebrated different languages and cultures to celebrate. In the morning we had a whole school assembly where Miss Bryden spoke to us about Europe and the the different languages, to conclude each year group performed a song in another language.
In class we chose a European flag in pairs and researched some facts about each country. We presented our flag and facts to the class.
Also to celebrate the day we concluded our afternoon with some french games and songs.
The P4 classes this year will be working with the Ochil Garden Group. During their first visit we had lots of fun exploring the school grounds looking for smells, sounds, textures and colours. We did this by splitting into groups and going on a scavenge hunt.
In maths we have been exploring number through a variety of ways. Learning to see numbers in various ways helps us to build confidence in working with numbers.
In class we have been building numbers with hard materials. We have explored place values within a number. We have talked and challenged each other. We are able to explain thousands, hundreds, tens and units in a number. We are able to increase numbers and decrease numbers by 1, 10, 100 and 1000.
Last week was our first week back. It was a busy week of catching up with friends, sharing stories and settling into our new room.
Here is a snap shot of one of the activities we did last week. We worked in teams against the clock to create the tallest paper structure. We spent time chatting and agreeing how we can work as a team before starting. During the challenge different teams used different strategies to reach their targets.
Well done to the whole class. They all showed real determination and excitement for the challenge.
